Default Rubber tire foam insert?

What are most of you guys doing with the tire inserts that come mangled with mainly the HPI tires? I had one guy tell me just stick them in ane another tell me to soak it in water and then let it air dry. When drying install, glue and run. What is the common method to prepping these for installing?

Take them out of the tires and use a heat gun or hair dryer to 'fluff' them. Be careful to not hold the heat too close or they will melt. They pop right back to their original shape once they get warm.
