I think the only real unique development in this car is the fact they have marked the shock corners on the top caps which I do like as it saves me doing it! But ive had a few things from CSO and all have been complete garbage!

You do tend to get what you pay for though. Xray cars cost a bit more, but the quality is truly superb. No slop, no tweak, no binding. Amazingly strong and a pleasure to build and work on. And that's the stuff that won't be copied by a $300 Chinese car.

We shouldn't pick on build quality until one is built and the imperfections noted. If the car goes together straight and runs true, it might help bring back TC in our area, especially if the other MFGs drop their prices in response. I looks nice and clean to me from the pics.

Default "low priced" TC's

I am very happy to see cars come in a this price range (yes...I know you can but a TA-06 R for this price but those are considered sport chassis). One of the biggest arguments during the "TC is dead" debates was the cost and complexity of TC's. I think it it's much more likely for someone to take a chance on TCs at this price point. There is a place for $500+ cars and for the most part they are worth it! I paid over $500 for a my 416X a few years ago and loved the car! After taking some time off I decided I didn't want to break the bank anymore and I bought a Spec-R R1...and love it too! I hope this car performs well and hope people like it in the same way people seem to like the Spec-R's. I want to go back to the TC3 days where everyone can buy a "fast" car and feel they can be competitive.

Does Mercedes drop the price of an AMG E63 just because Ford makes a shelby with more HP and half its price?

I definitely prefer spec-r's quaility to things I've gotten from CSO. The design looks decent though, where is that vta guy who wanted tamiya blocks for his T4??

Go back to the TC3 days? Some of us never left, and are still competitive because of classes like USVTA and USGT. I will admit though that if reasonably priced cars like this and the Spec-R R1 keep showing up, I may have to try driving something other than a TC3 for the first time in over a decade.

I own a X-Ray and a Spec-R R1. My R1 hasn't failed me yet....

Xray quality was outstanding when they just joined this market at year 2000. This image has successfully burned to most people's brain. Now is 2013, Xray is no longer super quality as other manufactures already come up to Xray standard while Xray is not moving upward anymore once they got popular. Also Xray seems copying other car to lower the cost, look at their 1/12 pan car. I don't think Xray car is that much different then other cars now. But one thing they are still very successful is the marketing. I don't think any other manufactures come close to this area.

I disagree. Xray quality is still high, it's just that other manufacturers have caught up.

IMO they're more focused on TC than 1/12

+1, and why change what's not broken?
I also think if they make drastic changes people will shy away until it is a proven winner.. Some people are scared of change, I for one look at the awesomatix like a work of art and that's in a league of its own, companies are IMO going to start looking into shaft driven cars more

CSO looks great. May sell my '12 for it.

BTW, T4 is about US$420 oversea. They have lots of room to come down on price.
