If the front is sliding, wouldn't you want to loosen the front up a bit or stiffen the rear?

This is how I always understood it, rule of thumb (never guaranteed), and XXX Main explains that...

when understeering yes. This ins't an understeer as described in post 1. It's an oversteer. Excessive oversteer.
