Suggestions for pinion gear on 27Tstk 64p TC4

Guys

I've picked up a BMI TC4 to run in onroad asphalt 27Turn
stock, rubber tires - 50' straight, tight outdoor, medium
bite track.

Where would you start with pinion gearing for a Epic
Binary stock motor - 64p,?

BTW - with a TC3 monster stock - I run 25-27 tooth pinion
on a 48 pitch gearing.

Your suggestions?

how many teeth are on your spurs?
i would try to run what you did on your 48P setup (ratio)
www.gearchart.com can help you there

big track the four mag is not the way to go...the monster is your best bet....the power band is really small on the binary

thanks

It's hard to beat a monster for an all around motor IMHO

I agree. Find out what worked for you in 48p and get the drive ratio and rollout from that.
Then just try to come as close as you can with the 64p.

???

monsters are generally torquey motors, quad mags have quite a bit more rpm....so why would you be using a torquey motor on a large track where you would need more rpm?

FYI, powerband is not really a term that applies to electric motors since they can generate power at ANY RPM depending on the load.

Peak torque to RPM ratio is a much better method of determining the better motor for a particular track.

Monster stock pro should be geared to be about 7.0 on final ratio with gp3300s and rubber tires. Just spur / pinion x internal ratio = gear ratio. Go up or down from there depending on track, but that should be good for 90% of tracks.

Try a 100t 64 pitch spur and a 35 tooth pinion that should be a good starting point.
Your final drive ratio will be a 7.14 with this gear combo
Your roll out will be a 27.7.
So that should be pretty close. You will have to test a little bit more to see what works. Try not to get the motor too hot. Nothing over 190 degrees. Also a motor will run hot when it is undergeared as well.
Hope that helps
Keith
