Default GP's explosion

DON'T EVER CHARGE A PACK WITHOUT BEING THERE. (WATCHING THE TEMP).
DON'T OVER CHARGE. NEVER OVER 10 MV DELTA PEAK (THRESHOLD) PER CELL.
NEVER CHARGE OVER 6 AMP.
NEVER CHARGE OVER 120 DEG TEMP.
NEVER USE A METAL BATTERY HOLD DOWN AS THEY HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO SHORT OUT BATTERY PACKS.
ALWAYS WATCH THE TEMPERATURE OF BATTERY AND CHARGER.
NEVER CHARGE ON A METAL SURFACE THAT CAN SHORT OUT CELLS.
THESE BATTERY ARE POWERFUL AND BY NOT BEING CAREFUL YOU CAN AND WILL HURT YOURSELF OR SOMEONE YOU LOVE.

was taken from power push web site.
Thanks, Tony.

looks similiar to one of the packs that a guy at my local track had. His shorted out on the keys in his jacket pocket. half a second after he got the pack out of his pocket, it blew up!

Pft, all of them were sensible but 6amp, can easily give them a bit more juice. I think its just silly peaks detects and charge false peak lockouts and charged packs that is causing people to blow them up.

STAY AWAY FROM FALSE PEAK LOCKOUTS!

I used to get some scary cell temps from the Pro-Trak using the lockout - just too easy to forget to discharge. Peak detection is there for a reason after all...

Anyway, people have always been blowing up cells, it's been happening long before IB and GP got into the RC market - I managed to short circuit a pack of 1/18th batteries last year which was quite spectacular - good thing I had an open window with a concrete path below it nearby. And there are people at my club who seem to blow up packs a couple of times a year... but then again, if you let all the shrink get split off your cells, you kind of deserve it...

I always charge 4amps for mod, 5amps for stock.
The lower the charging amps the longer your pack should last.
My 2years old GP still used in race.

IF you're listening carefully, you'll hear a "Ka" sound right before.

A spark, as its shorting out on something.

you hear the "Ka" followed shortly by "Fluggin Boom!"

You might hear a sizzling sound before hand, as the cell is trying to vent. But its proabaly a clogged vent that causes the cells to burst.

Strange that more than one cells is going up at once. Must be very overcharged....
