That is some good information there, and has confirmed my observations a while back about step charging.
For example if you charge
1st step: 0-->2500mah with 6.0A
2nd step:2500-->2600mah with 0.1A
3rd step:2600-->Finish with 5.0A
The charger not only takes time to increase to the desired number of amps, from 1st step to 2nd step, it also takes time to decrease to the desired number of amps, therefore, while the charger is slowly lowering the current, (from 6.0A --> 0.1A), the mah going into the pack has already exceeded 100mAh! (exited the second step before going into it) on another charger this could take 5 minutes... on this charger.. 30 seconds...
no one seemed to give a sh*t or an explanation when i posted it, hopefully, if you bring this up with Erik, you will get a good answer.
If you have time, please ask him when the next update will happen. This charger still needs a lot of updating.

* When I have some time this week I'm gonna see if this also happens within the tray, I'd like to know if I charge with 4.5A or 6.5A!
* With me its definately not a soldering post because during charging it measures ok. If you have a bad soldering post, then idd the charger will read higher because of the added resistance over the soldering joint.
-> what strikes me as odd is that I expected the charger to measure the voltage seperately over the sensor wires I see soldered to the posts. If it measured wrong when a post is soldered bad then this is definately not true and voltage is not measured seperately! (which could explain my bad voltage measurement with a bad FET)

This is just me getting a bit confused here... but you checked the delta peak cut-off with temperature? Is that a "good" way to go about it? (I am sorry, i am new at this...) it just doesn't feel right to check delta peak cutoff with temperature... aren't there other variables to consider?

I have been using this charger for a few weeks now charging IB4200 at five amps using 0.5 and 1 MV delta peak and cannot get my packs to Delta Peak
they all seem to Temp cut????
Am I right in saying the Higher the delta peak MV the hotter your packs will get?? or have I got it the wrong way around?
Should I put cooling fans above the charger tray?

Yes, the higher the delta peak, the higher the temperature will be before they peak. Atm my settings for EP4200's are: 3mV delta peak, 47 degrees Celsius.
If you set 43 they will temp cutoff every time. Not that its that bad, it'll prolly be a 30mAh difference or so between 43 and delta peak.

Yes, but the temp cutoff should basically be used only as a safety feature (from what I have read here)... As long as the delta-peak cutoff is set at a reasonable level, everything should be alright.

you need good cells to use a low mv setting
tray your cells 1st
In the UK we are using a fan on the left side of the heat sink. Don't let it blow into the cell tray as it'll affect the temp cut-off

Does anyone have settings to charge the following cells:

Ener G 4600
Any help would be appreciated I just got a Spintec charger so I want to make sure the settings are right.

Temp= 47 oC
Min Capacity = 0
Max Capacity = 6000 (Does anyone change these settings?)
Current = 5.6amps
I ended up turning off the pack because the temp on the middle cells was
116F and the cells took more than 4700 mamps. What have others seen in total mamps taken by the EP 4200 before they delta peak?

you can turn it down so that it limits what the charger will put into the cells and use it as a safety feature

my cells all stop on mv setting using the above, some do get upto 50c + though

I have seen really good IB 4200 cells take in 5200 before peaking. I'm afraid that the EP 4600 cells that we are getting might push the 6000 limit.
