protoform stratus 2.0 wing

Hi,

I just got the stratus 2.0. Like to know if you will cut the wing as protoform suggested, ie, cut the 2 holes, and center slot, or cut it as it is a old stratus wing.

And also, any handling difference.

please advise.

I haven't run the body yet, I plan to cut the wing like an old one at first, then cut the slots and holes if I want to reduce the rear downforce.

I have the 2.0 on my 414. My wing is cut like the old stratus wing. See pic. The handling is great with a tad push. I'm still working on the setup of this car, but the only other body I raced with this car is the Tamiya Modena body. So I can't really compare old Stratus vs new. I'd first cut the wing out old style. Then run the car. If it pushes too much and you can't tune it out via car setup. Then trim the wing down until your car handles the way you like. You can also try other Protoform TC wings since all the holes line up. Good way to setup the car!

i heard the rear is a little looser

the stratus 2 has less grip in the rear end. if you'll notice, the rear wing is narrower than the old stratus (if you have both, you can compare to see the difference) which is probably the reason for this. Like KilRuf said, you may wanna try installing the old stratus wing if you feel you need that extra rear bite. it should fit in quite perfectly. ;)

there are actually a few reasons why it has more steering, or should i say less rear grip. The rear deck (trunk, is much higher then on the stratus, this then means the rear wing is only 1/8" off the rear deck, which is bad for airflow, less downforce. Also the rear bumper has much more surface area which means it catches more wind, and lifts the back end up more.

So it has more steering, but thats because it has less rear traction.
