I made a motor spring tension tester/comparer tonight. If I get time this weekend Ill try to explain how I made it. I only expect it to be usefull in comparing springs I have against each other. What can I say . . .I got bored. I used three springs from the insides of retractable ball point pens, an empty ink "straw" (the small straw dealie that holds the ink. I removed the tip and dissolved all the old ink out in isopropyl alcohol). I also used a cap/tip/pointed part and a tip from another pen. I used a small section of heat shrink on the end of the straw part to hold the spring on. I just press the indexed tip against the straight leg of an instaled spring and take a reading when the spring just moves away from the spring keeper tab on the brush hood. I have a camera at school if anyone is really interested in seeing what I did. It was pretty simple after I figured out which parts to use and how big to cut them. Hopefully the drawing makes sense. Maybe that will help clear things up, cuz I know my words are no help! lol
let me know if you see any reason I shouldn't use this to rate my springs or any questions or problems. I have no idea how reliable this will prove to be. Ill let you know if Iget some hard data.
