Motor Tuning

Hey guys, I run 1/12 scale with 19T motors with fixed timing. I heard that you can tune the motor with a motor dyno and shaving the brushes. How do you recommend I shave the brushes based on the dyno output?

Thanks,

Dave

well it all depends really.... what are the numbers you are getting and from what dyno? in my opion you whould just be better of with a good after market brush unmodified and just messing around with the spring combo... This assuming that everything else in the motor is good... I.e arm centered in can, com cut straight, and brush hoods aligned perfect... You can make a motor scream just by doing the steps above..

Dave,

It really depends on what you're after TQ or RPM's,being that each one has it's tradeoff's, one for the other. If you go on Big jim's forum he can explain how to get what you after,he generally leans towards TQ motors.
