I second that!!!
Thanks to Jon Strausbaugh for making the track available to us for the final round of this series.
A big thanks to Ted Hammer for race directing and as always being a great competitor.
Also to all that participated in this race as well as the series.
Here is the points tally from Saturdays race
Mike McBride-301
Brad Palmer-293
Ted Hammer-293
Dish-292
Mike Pizzuti-288
Marvin Davis-286
Andrew Seltman-286
Although finishing order doesn't really matter, in the event of a tie , finishing order was determined by overall number of laps completed.

The turnouts this year have been lighter than the first season, and I am working to try and make the series more appealing to a broader audience. I know that on my end I need to step up my game as promoter of the series, but I would also ask that the host sites try to bolster the efforts for bigger local crowds.
For the next season, which will begin in September the TCS 1031/1032 tires will be the spec tire for the UF1 Midwest Series. We will allow the Pardus tires to be used, although the performance difference is pretty obvious.
I have not locked down a defined schedule, however the following are the host locations we are working with to hold events for the next series.
NORCAR at the Gate-Brunswick,OH
The Track @ Harbor Hobbies- Winthrop.IL
HobbyStop West- Toledo,OH
Summit Raceway- Ft Wayne, IN
Carbondale,IL
ProLevel RC- St Louis, MO

I have made the decision to go back to the 2 day race format.
We hold 6 2 day events for a total of 12 race days.
To be eligible for the points you must run 8 of the 12 race days.
We will hold events in September, October, and November take December off and race January, February, and March.
For those that don't know, the UF1 Midwest website is live at uf1midwest.com we will be posting all future information there.
Message me with any thoughts that you might have, I will be posting the top 10 in points as soon as I get them updated.

Thanks Brad ! For all your hard work running and keeping the series going .
Have you consisdered adding USGT and VTA as support classes but also keep points total and awards at the end of year . I think running these classes in UF1 format of a 3 min qualifier and 3, 10 minute mains might draw a lot of interest in a bigger group of racers .
Maybe you could call it the UF1 scale championship series .

USGT yes, VTA no, I want to also run LeMans as a support class whenever possible, but again I think there needs to be support on the local level to make it work. No matter what, F1 needs to be the headliner always.

Ok everyone here is the latest.
2014/2015 UF1 MIDWEST SCHEDULE

SEPT 27-28 NORCAR Racing at The Gate - Brunswick, OH
OCT 25-26 - Alpha RC - Carbondale, IL
NOV 15-16- ProLevel R/C - St Louis,MO
JAN 17-18 Hobby Stop West -Toledo OH
FEB 21-22 Harbor Hobbies - Winthrop Harbor,IL
APRIL 18-19 Summit R/C RACEWAY-Ft Wayne,IN
These will all be 2 day events, each day is a separate race program.
So in total there are 12 race days. You will need to compete in 8 race days to be eligible for the cash payout for the top 10 in points.
I have tried to balance the events so that you can complete most of the required races on your side of the midwest. Ft Wayne seemed like a good middle ground for everyone to get their 4th race in.
Also the support class at every UF1 Midwest venue will be USGT, as a bonus all events will be counted towards the USGT National Points system.
Any questions feel free to message me or send me an email

Can you explain how the points work? I may have missed it but couldn't find that info on the UF1Midwest site. All races count? Any drops? ...

No problem
There are 6 race weekends.
Each weekend has 2 race days
Each race day you do a 3 minute qualifier. Pole winner gets 2 bonus points
This sets the grid for the mains
Everyone runs 3- 15 minute mains with 2 mandatory pitstops
The winner of the main gets 100 points, 2nd 99 3rd 98 etc
Since the winner is determined by laps completed it is possible to win a round from the C main.
So there are a maximum of 604 points available on any weekend.
To be eligible for the Top 10 cash payout at the end of the season you must complete 8 of the 12 race days during the season
Hope this answers your question

Ok, just one more question. If you happen to make all the races, you only take points from your top 8 racedays, and throw the rest away? Or effectively, if you can make it to 4 weekends, then you can be in the points running

Yes, your 8 best finishes out of 12. If you run all 12 you have more to work with if you have a bad weekend

Thanks for the clarification. And also thanks for switching tires this year. The TCS tires are so much better, its like racing a different class. I hope some of the folks that quit because the Pardus tire, comes back to try again because it is so much better now.

Looking forward to the next round of UF1 Midwest at Alpha Raceway in Carbondale, Il. Hopefully a few more dedicated series folks will make it down this year. Track is nice and there will be lots of competition between locals and the guys from the STL area. Bring It!

You're welcome on the tire change. So far it is looking like the right move. The Alpharing as I have nicknamed it is a great facility. It is a little out of the way, but worth the drive. It is also the home of our gracious sponsor Alpha Property Management , so come on down and show your appreciation to Andy and his crew for making it possible to conduct a great series

Default UF1 Midwest Rounds 3 & 4

The next two rounds of the UF1 series will land in Carbondale, Il on Oct 25th & 26th.

Location: 500 Oakland St. Carbondale, Il (old National Guard Armory).

Doors open at 9am both days. We will try to finish by 6pm...

Start time: TBD (probably 12pm - 1pm)

Classes: F1, USGT, 1/12 17.5 (You can only run 2 classes, not all 3)

Format: F1 will be standard UF1 format, USGT 6min, 1/12 8min.

Costs: $20 first class, $5 for the second class.

We have the new AMB system so older MRT PTs don't work.

We have new, last season, ozite. 48'x90ish' with plenty of pit space.

Best to bring your own tables and chairs, though we do have a few extras setting around.

Great local F1 following, so it should be a good time. If anyone is looking for more information please call/txt Skip Starkey at (618) 559-8615 or Bill Eisenhard at (618) 534-9294, or post here...

Default UF1 Midwest Rounds 3 & 4

We will be putting up a new layout on the evening of the 24th with no practice available until Saturday morning. We use CRC carpet and clic-trak along with Losi min-dots for track setup. Our goal is to provide a car-friendly layout that is challenging and fun to drive. At our event last year, we had very close racing and drivers traveling from 5 states here in the midwest. If you elect to arrive on Friday evening, we will allow pit setup from 6-9pm.

Please be advised we do not allow Paragon tire treatment.

Any questions, let us know.
