Default Spektrum with M8 or Helios?

Seeking comments on the benefits of going with an Airtronics M8 or the KO Helios radio with a Spektrum system.

Which radio do you have now?

I have an M8 with the Spektrum and it works well, but I've been thinking of getting the Helios. A guy at my track has one and the balance feels a little more comfortable.

I have the helios, but i plan to get the spektrum soon. I don't know which radio is better with the spektrum, but either choice should be fine. But i reccomend the helios anyways just becuase it feels better (opinion)

Just put a Spetrum kit on my 10 year old M8 and it workds like a champ!! I can't wait to get to the track and not worry about waiting for frequency clips - or being to afraid to ask who else is on 40mhtz.

axel,

I hear you about the "feels better"; but, I have some feedback that the M8 "performs better".

So, it sounds like it is "feels better" vs. "performs better" (like the beer commercial)...he, he...

Anyone have experience with both radios...with or without the Spektrum???

Well i've never used an m8 before... but i've had no problems at all with my helios... Well i mean it has HSR... all the bells and whistles, I've had no glitches so far, but if i do the spektrum will fix that

Also if you search the thread "radio review" you should find some reviwes about the helios and the m8. I don't mean to be a helios whore or anything but all the people at my lhs say go with the helios... I was close to buying an m8, but felt the helios would be best suited for me... or you can wait for the m11.

Even more top heavy! Thats nuts dude! That thing already has horrible weight distribution! You've heard me rant on the top-heaviness of the M8 haven't you? LOL

Bill: Go Helios dude! I got an XS3 and a couple recievers too so I'm gonna stick with what I have but if I was gonna get a new radio it'd be the Helios

BTW: My logic: By the time I'm able to afford a Spektrum everyone else will have it and I won't have to worry about frequency conflicts anyway

Yup Dan has a good point if everyone else has the spektrum than there is no point of getting one yourself. You'll be the only one that doesn't have one, which means no one will be running the same as you.

I'm actually deciding not to get the spektrum after all, I'd just rather just buy the crystal set. Plus the helios reciever is the tiniest reciever i've ever seen.
