Tamiya XV-01

New thread for the Tamiya XV-01.
Here's some pic of my XV-01 Pro with slipper, sway bars and hex screws, Tekin RS Pro and Novak Ballistic 17.5T.

That is a thing of beauty right there.

Have been thinking of buying the XV01 Pro for awhile. Would love to have a race series over here in the states like they do in Europe.

I have one as well, it's a versatile chassis. From which kit did you borrow those stabiliser bars?

Terra Rover 01-05-2013 06:42 PM

That looks great. Nice and neat wiring. A couple of the guys at the track here have one. Vineland Speedway is going to put on a multi-surface race series this summer. I plan to get one so I can race in that series.

Thanks! :)

#OP-842 TA05 Stabilizer Set
#51111 4mm Adjuster (Rod Ends)
#53827 Stabilizer Rod Stopper
Had to modify slightly, very tight in the front.
Springs are #OP-440 On-Road Tuned Hard Spring Set

It sure looks great and could be the perfect car with the slipper build in for driving in the rain.
I like the looks of that chassis a lot.

The motor run very hot almost 90C so I fitted a cooler and fan, this should help! :)

Then you should check your esc settings, motortiming and and gear ratio.
One or more of these things isn't set right and make the motor run hot.

I like the wire harness that you have for the brushless leads. Does that come in the kit or did you add that yourself?

What gearing are you running? I ran mine with a 17.5 and FDR of 3.7 (82 spur / 52 pinion 64p) and motor was still very cool.

Wire harness from Tekno

Running
77T/31T 48P 6.46:1

Throttle Profil: 5
Boost 50
Start RPM 5000
End RPM 16000
Turbo 10
Turbo Delay 0.02
Turbo Ramp 2

Medium size track
Medium/High gripp

Temp after 10min, esc 40C, motor 90C
With no advance timing the motor runs cool, below 50C

Thanks! :)

Nice video, what esc and motors are you running?

I had some minor problem with my slipper.
If you build as instructed the slipper screw may easily bend before it's tight enough.
Instead flip the slipper spacer (marked red) and add 1-2mm shims, this will centre the slipper spring.
I'm also testing with Team Associated high torque slipper pads, hope there will be less pressure on the spring.
