Have not had time to test the car on the track, however with the cooler + fan I don't think heat will be an issue now.

I'm not sure which gear ratio normally used with 17.5T and today's boosted esc but I'm considering replacing the slipper to get more gear ratio option, then I can run for example 72T/35T 48P 5.34:1.

Is this a good idea to take more advantage of the motors torque and may be skip turbo completely?
To much turbo interfere, create ketchup effect and make the car hard to handle.

Cool, you´re about 3h drive from Karlstad. Are you going to the Rally Sweden? If the weather stays like this, it´ll be epic!

Just got my Pro kit today, and looking around for set-up info - but have found nothing. Any tips on shock-oil, diff-oil and the like? I'll be running it on dry, low grip gravel until the buggy track opens up late spring.

You can try a harder diff oil up front, something from #5.000 to #30.000, leaving the stock #900 in the back.
For the suspension, use the longer damper's ball joints for they'll give you a higher ride height and fit better with the current suspension arms.

You can try playing with some camber settings to counter the body roll too, tho I didnt try that yet.

Congrats to the kit, it's fun to build. Regarding setup I'm not sure, I'm trying to get this thing going on carpet but I guess the build-manual setup is ok. But I had some problem will leaking diffs so I would suggest you use diff grease at least in the rear. In front you can try thick oil 30.000+ cst, I have no leak with 100.000cst but I don't know how that will work on low grip gravel. Which motor will you put in?

I'm running 17.5 non boosted with 64 pitch gears. Spur is 82T and pinion is 48T, which is 4.4. There's still room for goin up in pinion as far as mesh is concerned. However you cant use the gear cover, so this is strictly advised if you are on Tarmac. Not rallye. 64p gears do not like dirt and pebbles

Yes that's around the same I used when running non boosted 17.5T in TC, but is it same with boosted?
Well I'll just have to test tomorrow at the track
With 72T/35T 48P 5.34:1 I don't think I can use the gear cover either but I will only run indoors with this setup so it shouldn't matter.

Had a good day at the local track, I'm getting closer to a decent setup for carpet.
Made some smaller changes to my previous setup.

-Front-
Oil: Team AE 60wt 800cst
Piston: 2 hole
Spring: White
Stabilizer: Blue
Diff: Team AE 100.000cst
Ride height: 5mm
Droop: 3mm
Camber: 1.5 degree
Toe-out: 1 degree
Upper arm specer: 1.5mm

-Rear-
Oil: Team AE 55wt 725cst
Piston: 2 hole
Spring: Blue
Stabilizer: Blue
Diff: Diff grease
Droop: 3mm
Ride height: 5mm
Camber: 1.5 degree
Toe-in: 2 degree
Upper arm specer: 2mm
Damper position: Inner tower, Outer arm

-Timing-
Throttle Profil: 5
Boost: 50
Start RPM: 3000
End RPM: 13000
Turbo: 10
Turbo Delay: 0.02
Turbo Ramp: 3
Motor timing: 35 degree

Gear ratio: 5.34:1
Spur: 72T 48p
Pinion: 35T 48p
Esc: Tekin RS Pro
Motor: Novak Ballistic 17.5T
Rims: Schumacher Rev-Lite
Offset: 1mm front, 2mm rear
Tyre: Sorex 28R
Body: Tamiya Subaru Impreza STI
Lipo: 2S Orion 90C 5500mah
Weight: 1634g

Motor temp 70 degree C, esc temp 45 degree C after 8min, now it just need to be 284g lighter to beat the "real" TC cars
An lightweight Protoform Mazda Speed 6 would be interesting to test and that carbon fiber chassis I talked about earlier is very tempting though it's a long way down to 1350g that's the minimum weight for TC on the races we run here in Sweden.

284g? That´s still a long way to go!

Yes it is, but not impossible I think. Shorty lipo and a lighter body will cut 150g right away and with carbon fiber chassis that make better location of esc and servo will cut some more grams. But to get all the way down to 1350g, that may be quite hard!

I agree, its hard but not impossible.

Does anyone know how much the main chassis part weights? I reckon the biggest weight savings will come from that part alone. The short lipo too will make a noticeable difference tho it will for certain influence the overall weight distribution. It will be important to counter this by finding a good position for the electronic components, tho I'm afraid it will be somewhere far in back, neglecting any weight savings with shorter wiring due to a shorter distance between the ESC and the motor, that would otherwise be possible.

It sounds like you're trying to recreate the wheel with the XV-01. Unless you enjoy the challenge, you would be better off picking up a car that's intended for TC, such as the TA06.

When you go the carbon route, it will no longer be useful as a rallye car. The plastic tub chassis is much better for dirt. Carbon does not fare well with rocks and gravel.
