E10 or TC4 or TT-01
Should I go with a hpi e10... ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/360536032181...84.m1423.l2649 ) or should I go with a TC4 ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/Associated-T...item2a1ca804ea ) ? I am at a loss at which to choose. If I get the tc4 the wheels/tires, esc, receiver, and radio are getting swapped out for a Traxxas xl-5 lipo ready esc, a Tqi, and a set of drift wheels. Other than that, and possibly the servo, I'll be fine. I have had one before and they seem well built. If I get the E10 the esc, motor, servo, radio, and receiver are all getting replaced. I have had one of these before too, but I didn't have any issues with it either. It was just cheap feeling and like it was flimsy. I'm just wanting an on-road car to do some drifting in the basement this summer and do some filming for my youtube channel. I won't be doing any competitive racing with it, it will be totally for fun. So, what's your guys opinions? Basically for the money, which is going to be my ideal choice. With my sidewalk and driveway always being full of little rocks, I excluded the belt driven system idea right away.
Also, with the TT-01, I have no clue about it one bit. I have never owned one, or worked on one. What's everyone's feelings on that one? What model might be the one to look at? It seems like there are hundreds of models of them. lol

There are only two options in the shaft RC world tc4(cheap) or Awesomatix A700(expensive).... The rest is not worth a second look......

A new club racer is the best way to go ! It's also the cheapest way to go...... But if you find a Fttc4 for less than the club racer, then take it..... After that go to the tc4 forum and look for post #10888 for some of the possible mods, and read from there, because I think there are two more mods to be done: One taking away drivetrain bearing seals/using teflon sealef Bearings on the axles , and the other One I think was either rpm ball cups all over or dremeling the battery compartment slots......

I go with the Associates then HPI. Options are more and better. LHS usualy carry's.

If I build a TC4 exactly like I want with a hitech 645 servo, traxxas xl5 lipo ready esc, traxxas tqi radio, cheap set of drift rims and tires, $150 for the club racer (or if i get lucky maybe and find a cheaper one), 17t reedy motor, and maybe $30 for a body then more for paint, I'll be spending about $340 on it. Is it really worth it to go that route? Should I just go with the rtr and just buy the esc and radio system? I still need to get another battery charger and battery too.
EDIT: On top of all that, what is your ideas/toughts on a belt driven sprint 2? Maybe even the Sprint 2 flux? Would it be a bad idea with the small rocks and pebbles? I just don't want to buy something and regret it after I fix it 10,000 times. lol

It will depend on whether you're Racing competitively or not. If you are not, then the rtr is the better choice, but if you are, then you'll need to get the tekin rs/spektrum rx/savox 1251 low profile servo , which will cost more, but will perform better in all situations....

If you just want to bash around a little in the basement just get the cheapest... they all will drift around just fine. But here are a couple other options...
Tamiya TB03 or
HPI Sprint 2.. there is a new sprint 2 package that is just way cool looking and comes with both drift and rubber tires!

If you are thinking about getting a club racer and then buying an esc and motor... just go brushless. You can get good speedos for 45 - 50 and some others for even less and then used motors on here or there are cheap new ones also. I'd never waste my money on brushed again with as cheap as brushless is now.
Examples... there are plenty more options

its not the drive train id worry about as much as the spur. if there are lots of little rocks you will mangle the spur long before you kill a belt or whatnot.
i might see if you could afford the xv01 instead. all sealed belt drive and much much much better than the tt01.
the tc4 is a great car if you want to race, not so much for bashing.
another option, and back to tamiya again, is a df03 ra. shaft driven, sealed spur ect.
I wouldnt bother with brushed if your buying everything new. cheap brushless system can be had for $120ish and is absolutely maintenance free.

I've been racing onroad for close to 10 years and have had both. I can barely tell the difference. There are many more belt cars than shaft cars available right now.. that should tell you that belts don't suck. As Valk stated the spur will cause more issues than the drivetrain (belt or shaft).
