First ROAR Nationals 1/12

Someone knows when the first ROAR Nationals 1/12 were held? I´m still trying to find out but at the ROAR website you can´t find any informations on these early years also have not found at other places.
From my knowledge it should be either 1975 or 1976 and Gary Kyes was winning that Nationals. If someone knows more or has pictures please post here or send me PN.

ROAR did not start doing a National race till the 80"s. I got every revup from 1979 I'll look up later.

If it was 75 or 76 it likely would have been 1/12 nitro.

Is it possible there had been Nationals before ROAR?
No I´m talking about 1/12 electric. Speaking with Gary he told me some technical details about that race but he was not sure if it was 1975 or 1976. So I´m looking for timetables but have not found anything until now.

Jay Kimbrough would be a guy to speak with about this era. You can probably contact him via the Kimbrough Products website.

Does Rick Howart plan to attend this year's ROAR on-road carpet nationals?

Back in the day when there was only 1/12th and 1/8 scale there were 1/12 th scale nats. Rick howert Ralph Burch joel johnson use to battle it out. Mike lavaco was a multi time 1/12 th scale nation champion. Mike Reedy / Gene Husting would be there suppling most of the fast drivers.there would be a L main. RC was bigger in the 80s then it is now there were local races at the Ranch Pitshop and other places there would be 100 drivers in 1/12th scale at a club race.

ROAR was founded in 1967 and the first nationals were in 1968 at Sunset Ford car dealership in Westminister, CA 1/8 nitro pan cars. I'm still looking for the 1/12 history, ROAR only has results back to 1998 on their website when Chris Mazzola won stock 1/12 and Jon Orr won 1/12 modified.

First ROAR Nationals for !/12

Using the Associated web site to rev up my memory, the 1976 National in Indy had a 1/12 scale class ( .049 gas only I believe). The 1978 Nationals at Ratteys Raceway had an extensive electric race. I was in the D or E main. Indoors, under a tent. Bet you can't guess how old I am.

I started racing in 1980 I raced at Norcal Hobbies Joel Johnson was a 7 years olds Gary Keyes raced there. Joel was fast at 7 they made him race in kids division even though he was as fast as all the adults. At Norcal back then they had 150 cars for a club race. 90 second qualifiers hand counted cars no computers back then. You turn marshalled and then count laps. LOL
I raced a MRP they were a plastic chassis car, they worked good till Associated came out with 12E I think that's what it was called.
I raced dirt oval with Gary Keyes 2 years ago we were racing Dirt Oval in the Best in the West dirt oval series.
