I believe Josh said his home made car wasn't too good - it had gear diffs which were very heavy and kept spinning the unloaded side - Paul Lemieux's car was a modified TF-4 whch went pretty well considering the age of it.

As I understand it the TF5 shaft drive prototype has been scrapped and Kyosho are again looking at a belt drive - this seems to mean an end for their shaft drive ZX5 Lazer off roader too

Hah....GOOD!!!!

Hopefully they'll go back with that prototype Belt they said they were going to release but ended up shoving it one side for the shaft. I guess the shaft going to be belted again then?..hehe ..

Personally i reckon it may have been those darned 10 year old original Lazer ZX suspension arms that made the car handle horribe...

Bender me ole m8 this could be you que to get in there with the Kyosho boys and tell them to get your KX1? project up and running, something you've been raving about for a while on a few forums just get them to redesign those horrid wishbones.ok?

KX-1

Dirt Racer-

That belt drive prototype was crap

Why would you make a 4wd off roader with 48 pitch gears all out in the open?? That's crazy. The rest of the car looked good but that drivetrain was just stupid, and whilst I'm not a fan of shaft drives - anything has to be better than an open-style gear drive system.

Don't knock the old Lazer arms - if the length and geometry are right, it doesn't matter how old they are Have a look at the Losi XXX/XXX4 - how old are their rear arms

And don't get me worked up about the KX1
Such a superb design, gone to waste Throw some Xray suspension on it and watch if fly - and yes, what a great 4wd off roader it would be

You know you're not going to shut me up on that one

I predict it will look like a 415,RDX,FK05,MI2,MR4-BD,Cyclone it's become copy cat city I know all these cars are different but they all have simular lay outs.

Well, im glad someone else has noticed..

However, Corally/Schumacher can be counted as an exception as they have stuck with the Belt Drive concept when everyone seemed to be doing Shaft, also you gotta hand it to them for thinking of innovative ideas on their previous/current design, they have tried to be a little different from everybody else..

If kyosho ends up going with Josh's 3 belted car(although unlikely), they will refine it and ofcourse put ball diffs in, instead of the gear diffs that Josh had running at the snowbirds.

I would rather Kyosho do something with the KX-1 transmission and with a refined chasis/suspension layout. Its a 1 belt drive system..

Josh is helping design the new Kyosho electric sedan. He has a long partnership with Kyosho, as he did a lot of the development work on their nitro sedan.

Why would Kyosho Hire Josh and Paul to run their cars if they dont really even have a good tourer out yet? Josh I can see because he runs their nitro cars, but Paul. What does Pavidis drive now? And does anybody have a picture of Kyoshos KX1, or whatever its called.

They probably hired them to develop their new car.

I hope Kyosho makes a shaft drive. That prototype on display looks great. Shaft drive cars are equally as fast as belt drives, but when the 415 wins the worlds, everyone tries to copy their design. Even after they have copied the 415 layout, they still can't beat Marc Reinhard. Hummm, I wonder why that is? Maybe Marc is better than the other drivers.

Yes, I know the 415 isn't the original car with that layout, but it's the latest one to win the Worlds.

I still like the Pro 4 and Yokomo SDW as my favorite cars. Shaft drives just seem to accelerate more level to the track.

I will be getting the LCG conversion this summer, so then I can whoop all the 415's and FK05's at my track. Then by fall, everyone will be back to shaft.
