Hi, in the uk hpi driver andy moore uses tamiys shock pistons in his pro 4,has any one done this? and if so can you tell me where to get them or does any one know the part numbers for these parts.

They do fit, I measured them with a caliper and the diameter is virtually identical.

53572- 2 hole pistons
53573- 3 hole pistons

Why not just use the the Tamiya TRF Flourine shocks entirely? They are the smoothest TC shocks on the planet. And that's hard for me to say because I don't really care for Tamiya products as a whole.

The HPI's are pretty darn close to the TRF shocks. The plastic pistons that come with the HPI shocks just aren't as smooth as the Teflon TRF ones

Yes i use speedtech alot, there is a package on its way to me now, but i have to put a large order together to cover the postage costs. i might get the teflon shocks, but will they come with the 2 hole and 3 hole pistons.

ive run them for 6 months now and they really good. the reason that andy and other drivers use them is because they are machined and not moulded so they are true. thats what he explained to me. i use the no3 pistons you can get them from rainbow ten in japan

You will also want to use a very thin 0.005" (0.15mm) motor shim between the e-clip and the piston to take out the enfloat. The piston is just a tiny bit thinner than the HPI one and you will end up with a small deadspot if you dont use a shim.....you will see what I mean!

Once you have done that they will be silky smooth. The pistons really do make a difference in these dampers. Beautiful and easy to build.

We used the 3 hole pistons most of the time here in the UK.

You will want to be pretty soft at Ashby with all those bumps Phil. Think we ran 35wt front and 30wt rear with XRay white springs all round (17.5lbs)

Quite a lot of droop as well.
