I just got my RC Car Action Nov 05 issue and there is a full review on the Ferrari TA-05. Good scores.

Cool..
Thank's Tony I'll be down there Tuesday.

I'd like to take a look at a TA05 up close.

Scott.

Upper carbon deck really helps out this car here. Get either the 6mm wheel hexes or some spacers for 26mm foams or you'll rub the turnbuckle. Wit that said, it's quite competitive on carpet as well. A Protoform Stratus 2.1 or Nemesis would be better for carpet than the Ferrari one too.

I raced yesterday with the TA05 on carpet with rubber tyres and a protoform Mazda 6 shell. The car is kit except for TRF shocks and a small rear carbon gearbox brace. The car was setup initial to kit locations, 40wt oil all round, I changed the front to 45wt to slow down the weight transfer and stood the rear shocks out one hole on the tower and the car was dialed.

People who beat me last winter were behind me, with Xrays and TC4's, the guy who beat me, fastest lap was 0.2s faster and his car is about 110 grammes lighter than mine, so, you could say the car is competitive.....

I had no intentions of running this car on foam tires on carpet-but after reading all this stuff-It might be worth a try. Though the car is so flexible out of the box. But-who cares-its a $140 car!!! I am trying to commision a series of CF chassis, top decks and stand-offs for the car-but it may be near impossible at this time. But could you imagine the chassis in 3mm Quasi-isotropic with a 2.5mm top deck and aluminum standoffs?

Does anyone have a .dxf file of the chassis?

Thanks,
Ray

if someone DOES have a CAD image of the chassis, or at least where the slots are and the screw holes.....

Nah-I wold never make a do it yourself chassis. It would be proffesionally done by a machine shop or not done at all. Besides-Squares is bound to be 2mm or 2.5 but swiss cheesed for flex and lightness-which leaves you with a lighter-but no more stiff chassis than the oriinal-right?

Does anybody know how much weight would be saved when I use:

-Lightweight suspension
-Alu turnbuckles and connector balls
-titanium screw set

Anyone have an idea?

Alwin.

I do not know what you mean by "smooth"?

That does not sound like a diff problem.

you'll save 30 grams when you go from the old suspension to the lightweight. not sure about the other stuff. but there is weight savings there.

Smooth as in silky smooth
Kidding aside: compared to my Xray its not that smooth, on my Xray I could barely hear the diffs, don't think I Have a diff problem I just rebuilt it, well let's see------- With the Xray if I let off it just rolls and then stop slowly or smoothly BUT with the TA05 it just stop abruptly. I hope you guys know what I'm talking about---- I did interchange the speedo , and its still the same thing. anyways any input?

That could be a number of different things, firstly, is the transmission free in as much as will it roll on a gentle slope, if not, then first reset belt tensions back to factory settings, if they are, then check bearings.

If it does roll free, then it got to be something you are putting in the car or using, like a motor with very strong magnets, or inadvertantly set drag brakes.
