Nice car, yes I do like my '05 for its uniqueness, I've been asked if it was a Yokomo before It's looking a bit older now compared to that picture as it's seen some use but still in pretty good shape!

I definitely like the '05 for its strength. Easier to get setup right too imo, than the trf415 ever was. Function over form wins my vote anyday

It's nice to know that somebody still adores the TA05 platform despite it's age.

I will post pics here when I finish my latest build. Parts should be arriving today...

Regards!

I purchased mine BNIB and threw a lot of upgrades at it to compete in a winter championship many years ago (2008 iirc)

finished 3rd overall with it so yeah the car always has a soft spot within me

For me, it were very friendly on tire wear despite being a little overweight.

is there a graphite tub chassis part avaiable for the TA05IFSV2 OR do you just have to buy the kit?

Looking for a v2 tub and gearbox.

Picked up a 2nd hand TA05 to get my 6 yr old racing, as it was the car I started with 10 yrs ago, My Awesomatix still in bits, I decided to drag his car out for a 21.5 points round not expecting a whole lot, pleasantly surprised, despite some diff slippage (unmaintained ball diffs) the car felt planted and I was able to get it into the top 3 with my best lap times in the ballpark of the top drivers.

This is one sedan that I will always have. Yes, it has been here for more than ten years but it is still a competitive chassis. It can be configured/updated with the latest arms, dampers, ball connectors, belts, bearings, gear diifs and whatnot. Also it has the components the latest tamiya touring sedans have.

What I like about it is the simple but effective equal belt configuration. Steering is alright too. I have my EPAs at 82% on full lock.

Build it how you want it. IFS or Non IFS.

Yes, it has some flaws but it was already addressed in the past.

Parts are still abundant whether it be OEM or third party like 3racing, square, exotek, eagle racing, overdose, spec-r, gpm, x spede, etc.

In fact, I have enough parts to build two or three more cars like this.

I can acquire the most up to date cars now but still I choose this car. It's fun to build and own since I am not into racing anyway.

Plus did you guys notice that this platform has many variants? TA05V1, V2, TA05MS, 30th Anniv Porsche, VDF, VDF2, M four, Eagle Racing RWD TA05 and the DB01 is also based on the TA05 as well.

This is my view of the chassis.

Regards!

The car is a great platform to work with.

In stock form, the weak points are the plastic toe blocks and shocks.

Swap them out for TRF items as soon as you can, then also look at a twin deck chassis or a graphite tub chassis depending on your preference

There are two twin deck chassis I know. 3Racing and Exotek.

Exotek EX05 is hard to find nowadays. My only concern with 3Racing is LiPo fitment.

Was that already addressed?

I have not used mine for a long time (when nimh were still being used) so I wouldn't know.

Longer posts, or spacers to separate the top and main deck more might be an option if the top deck isn't high enough, providing the belts do not rub.

The overhang might be an issue for some, but I wouldn't call it a major issue. To my knowledge, 3racing never designed a lipo specific chassis for it, the one with the cell cut out slots is the only one they produced, like this one:

Thank you for the information.

I'm thinking that the 3racing chassis can fit a lipo with simply using stoppers and securing the battery with tape.

To be honest I have no idea. They were a local company here in socal back in the day. Haven't heard much from them since.

My Tesla is charging nicely at 1C.
