Ed237: The track where I plan to race does have its share of fast drivers, but I don't really expect to compete with them since I cannot spend countless hours and every weekend at the track. My competition are the guys that are probably a 1/2 to 3/4 lap faster than I am (at least when I last raced). I'm not likely to travel to other tracks.
Turbo Joe: PRICE!!! That's what caught my attention with the TA05-R. If I can be competitive with this chassis that's even better!
tc3team: Consistency is a good word. That alone can compensate for equipment that may be a little less "high end". Thanks for the setup tips too.
linger: That's overwhelming evidence that this chassis is competitive. I agree with you fully that perception often motivates our decisions. However, $450.00 compared to $250.00 can quickly return one to reality.

Another question...
Recommendations on where I can buy a TA05-R online at the best price? I read somewhere of someone paying around $200.00. I cannot find any pricing that low.

Speedtech has them for $249, which is still a screaming deal. It's truly the best deal going in RC. You can race that thing competitively...right out of the box.

They were my average and best times for this year with the car when the grip was up,with good tyres. Ive not managed to be as good as that since lol. You have to be inch perfect on the track to get that kinda consistancy.
If you are going to race stock you need to keep the car as light as possible to help you, roll bars etc will only weigh the car up, but my car is far from standard now. It is still a very good car in stock form though, very capable

I ran the quickest i have ever run at my track on the weekend with my TA05R. I usually run 17 laps in a 6 min race but i managed to get 18. Also managed a better best lap time, i would have been in the top 3 fastest i just had a bit of bad luck.

After racing on the weekend i found that my car was a little bit taily coming out of the corners, everything else was good except for this, what can i change to fix this, can i stand the rear shocks out one hole?

im looking at buying another tourer. i quite like the ta05,ta05-R is the R much better??
i think the tao5 ms is a little expensive as i could buy a 416 for relatively the same money.
i seen the ifs model, but is it not a little gimmicky? lower front shocks just to fit a low profile body?
also ive seen these tech racing kits for the ta05 are they worth the extra bucks?
And finally with the recent lauch of the 416 how long will it be before the tao6 will be released if they are making one???
any opinions will be gladly appreciated

It depends on what you are looking for.
The TA05 can take more of a beating than the TA05R, but the TA05R is a bit more forgiving than the TA05MS or 416. On the other hand, the TA05 is set up with far less options than the TA05R, but the TA05MS or 416 is more what would be called "race-ready".
I don't own a 416, but when comparing the TA05 line to the 416, I can say that I've found the relative forward mounted motor to be an advantage for the small course I run on with 13.5 or 10.5 brushless. If you're running mod, then the rear motor position on the 416 will probably be better.
