Well, I'm just about finished with the ta05 build and so far I'm very pleased with the design. It seems Tamiya designed this chassis as a "sleeper", I'm looking forward to putting it to the test in a week or so. Funny enough, I just bought a FK04 (for $50 on ebay!!) and am now considering selling it and becoming a full fledged Tamiya junkie. Has anyone come across the stock arms and shock towers as fragile. I noticed quite a bit of flex when I installed the shock ball mounts?? Has anyone considered the potential of roll center mod as you could theoretically put shims under the susp. mounts?? Just throwing some ideas out there to spark our collective minds.--AL

No, if anything the stock arms and towers are stronger than any aftermarket or option parts you can get...this thing is a tank!

And How!!!!

My novice 8 year old son and his TA05

First race on carpet...........7 battery packs..........0 broken parts
Second race and first time on asphalt..........5 packs..........0 broken parts

So far with him running two races the score is 2 mangled bodies and 0 broken parts! Life is good!! Now I just need a body sponsor or he will break me!!

I just weighed my ta05 and it's a bit chunky--1570 grams(with a body). What are you guys doing to knock off some of the weight and still keep it Tcs Legal??

1)Lightweight/reversible suspension
2) Ti or alloy turnbuckles
3) Carbon Components.

I got mine now 1509 grams race ready and will still drop when I get the 3 Carbon components parts this week.

Are Acer Racing bearing sets TCS legal?? That would be a significant decrease, wouldn't it??

Default anti dive, anti squat and droop setting

Anyone set anti dive and anti squat for this TA05 chassis ?
Please tell me your setup and for what kind of track (asphalt or carpet).
Also tell me how you set the droop ....

Thanks for the info.

Yes legal. Not a big weight savings, no. Going from steel dogbones to alum. bones would save you more weight and be cheaper as an example.
