I run my TA04SS with Sorex 36's, HPI Green insert's on Yokomo 24MM 0% offset all the way around.
Tamiya yellow springs, 35W shock oil, 2 hole shock valve's up front, 3 hole valve's in the rear.
I also run a rather high setting for ground clearance. 5mm F/ 7mm R.
I know it sounds high but when my car squat's in the turns it hooks great.

Hope it helps.

Default Diffs

Did anyone have problems with the stock diff outdrives melting/breaking? I want to get the car to run in 19-turn but I'm not sure whether the diffs will hold up...are they as weak as the stock TB-02 outdrives?

If you use the 46mm swing shafts so they go deep into the outdrive it should work. If you use the Lt wt. suspension you may have to use the 48mm swing shafts. Tamiya also has the precision outdrives as a hop up. These are made of delrin which is a little harder plastic and they have the alum. rings on the ends to keep them from expanding. Right now I'm using 46mm with the stock arms and the stock outdrives and the shaft goes way inside the outdrive and I've ran 23 turn motors and no problems! The key is to have the contact point of the shaft as far in as possible with out binding and away from the end of the outdrive. Hope this will help you!

I'm using the standard suspension with 46mm universals with the upgrade outdrives and I ran an 8x1 all day - Foams/asphalt and there is no sign's of wear.

Post TA-05 Tamiya Spool

Quick question for those who have already the Tamiya Spool for the kits. Would the spool fit the TRF414M? The reason I asked, it still run my 414M kit for club racing & I like the way the spool handles on my TRF415. No after market RC company made one when the 414M was in it's prime years ago. I tried installing the Tamiya spool for the TB EVO4 & it was a direct fit between the bulkheads but the center hole of the diff pulley was too small to fit over the diff housing (the hole on the diff gear for the EVO4 is bigger in diameter). Any replies would be appreciated especially replies from those who still have their 414M's. Thanks in advance.

The ones you have right there are pretty well the set.. Fluorine coated dampers.. it just all depends on what colour you want.. red, dark blue, gunmetal, or the newer light blue ones with ridges ("Special Blue"). They all use the same fluorine coated body with different caps. They'll all fit and work well with any Tamiya model.

Here's a similar conversation about them in this thread's page, complete with numbers and pics if you look around.

I've got about 20 packs through mine with 19t foam/carpet...with no real signs of the outdrives giving up.

Hi Guys,

Just want to post a quick note that we have Tamiya parts back in stock along with the following new parts for the TA05:

Tamiya 5mm Aluminum Short Ball nut (Blue/10pcs) to work with the upper shock mount spacer kit

Carbon Damper Stay Setting Spacer Set (blue)

Tamiya Titanium Coated Suspension Shaft 49.7mm for TA05 This replace the inner hinge-pins on TA05 with smoother Ti-coated hinge-pins

Tamiya 48mm Light Weight Rear Swing Shaft (Blue) 1 pair This is for those that have the LW suspension kit installed

Tamiya 3x28mm Titanium Turnbuckle Shaft (2 pcs) This is for the camber links on the TA05. 2 pair will complete the car.

Also be sure to take advantage of our Free shipping Weekend special

Would I be far off if I thought that the 48mm shafts could fit on the regular suspension (I see there's still quite a bit of some play with those 46mm dogbones, especially if you take those O-rings from the axle cups) and then you'd be ready for the lightweight at any time after that? Or is there still binding?

Any luck with 28mm foams with regular suspension? The rears are fine with 6mm hexes and 2.5mm of spacers, but the fronts are the same setup (can't put any more on) and are barely clear of the kingpin ballcups on top... I could run them, but I'm sure on hard turns the wheen can flex and touch them.

Thanks,
James

HELP!? I am doing a project. On the hop-up front one-way for the TA05, can someone please measure in mm's the blue housing? Not the one-way part(bearings). Just the blue housing from end to end.

Thanks in advance!
