Default Back to TA05 prototype!

O.K. !!! Lets get back to the thread !
I talked with Fred today at Tamiya and he said that the TA05 will be out in June!! I think the chassis won't be legal for the regionals but will be for the finals!!
And guess what chassis the Past Champion's race are going to use? That's right, the new TAO5! Fred also said that the suspension parts will be interchangable with the TAO4, so that means the LW susupension will probably work also! Very cool!!
He also mentioned that the front and the rear belts for the TAO5 are exactly the same lengths! No more stocking up on rear and front belts! One size for both!!
Last, all batteries for TCS will be legal, as long as they can be purchased at your LHS. 3600,3700, 3800 ,GP, Sanyo, Intellect, any one you want!
Hey it's only money! Right?

Better double check that. When I talked to Fred 2 weeks ago about batteries he said he was going to follow ROAR's Rules. 3600+ cells won't be approved until fall sometime at the soonest.

Fred's wording on this were he wasn't going to use ROAR or IFMAR rules to determine what type of batteries we can use!
Hey, it's his race! He can modify the rules all he wants. Of coarse, I just happen to have a couple of 3700's just waiting for TCS!!!

Hey, did I miss something here.....is the 05 a mid motor car?? Just wondering how the belts can be the same front and rear. Thanks.

Default RE: TA-05 Prototype

That's what Fred said to me. Belts will be the same length front and rear. This will be a very unique chassis. So mid-ship design with interchangeable parts to keep us spare part collectors happy! He also said that the engineer who designed the chassis also had done some R&D on a the real Honda F1 chassis! Something to consider when a lot of the designs they apply to RC cars come directly from actual full size race cars!
I'm getting excited now!

So what are you guys thinking-this will be the GT2 car of choice at Nats? Or are the TA04's so well sorted out at THQ that they are unbeatable?

hey ray.. your a chassis whore just like me.. so i know you'll have this car. [ insert comment here from gary katzer ]

again... the TA04 is the proven winner. Maybe the TA05 will give it a run for its money..and of course the TeeBee. im still waiting for someone to run a TT-01 i guess we have to wait for Nats to find out.

evoRacer.... yes if max's intel is correct. the TA05 will be a MID-Motor car since the belts are equal in length.

hmm better order my GP3700s now.

Well- have a TB02/evoIII and I just traded a guy my race prize for a nice TA04 almost r.

BUt-I might only have the time and funds to do one or two days of pre-Nats testing at THQ-so I gotta put all my eggs in one basket I think. I hope we start getting more scouting reports on the car from real racing.
