12L4 sevo recommendation
I am just after some advice on what servo will work in my 12L4.Currently i run a hs 56 but this wont last long. None of my LHS have anything that fits so i will have to order off the net and i dont want to get something that wont fit.I dont need anything super fast as i am struggling with the twitchy 12 as it is . Somethimg with metal gears that doesnt cost a fortune would be good.

Try a JR 3550. Small and fast, fairly cheap

I am looking at a Hitec HS-225bb. Then when I get a bit better and want more speed then I can get into the $100 servos.
Sound like a good plan?

ko propo and Airtronics are very good and popular servos.

I feel a good servo is one of the single best investments you can make in any class of racing. 1/12 is especially important when it comes to precision since the wheelbase is so short. As already mentioned, the learning curve does become steeper with sub par equipment. If the servo doesn't center precisely, you won't be able to line up for the next turn without wandering all over the track as well as into the paths of other vehicles. I run a Futaba 9650 which is a great digital servo for only $55.

The only servos that fit in an L4 and allow the servo output shaft to be perfectly centered are the Airtronic 94145, Futaba 9602 and 9650
I run an Airtronics 94761 and I have used JR 3550 servos. With the 94761 you need to drill and countersink one new hole to get it to line up. The JR servo needs two new holes to get it to line up perfectly.

I ran a Hitech 225BB in my L4 last year, no problems at all with strength, speed, glitching or reliability. The only thing I will say is that occasionally the trim wandered a click or 2 on my radio and I have heard other Hitech users say the same thing, occasionally the cheaper Hitech's don't center acurately. I've just upgraded to a KO 949, didn't really need to, but it was at a price I couldn't pass up, GO RC Champ!!!

9602 all the way - simply the best. Buy, fit (drops in, no mods needed), steer, forget. It's the only servo I know that I have never heard anyone say "it just failed." Accidents, yes; unexplained failures, no. HTH
