I know the question I asked is vague so I'll ask another what manufactures make 1/10 F1 cars.
Thanks for all your help

Tamiya F103
Tamiya F104 (with many variants)
3Racing F109
3Racing FGX
HPI F-One
There are some other pan car versions as well by Corally and TRC. Serpent is supposed to be coming out with an F110, and 3Racing is making parts for a future car the F113. There are other older options and probably some I am missing.
If you plan on racing, you need to find out the rules at your local track (or other tracks if you plan to travel or race bigger races). Most F1 chassis options are not legal for one reason or another. A Tamiya F104 (non-W) will be legal almost everywhere, though will be less competitive at tracks running wider specs with foam tires (can be converted to a W though).

For the sake of completeness there's also
TRG F111
Roche Rapide
Formula Scythe F104WW
Fusion FRF1011
Exotek F1R
Exotek F1Ultra
Tech Racing F125
Although there are lots of variables in deciding what's the best. Most of them are capable of being competitive, and depending on your local rules a lot of them are capable of being illegal. Tamiyas are the most popular as you can easily get hold of spares for them, the same for the Exoteks. A Roche Rapide just got TQ at the IIC race in Vegas.
The beginning of the F1 thread is 4 years old, when F1 racing didn't exist. If you go to the end of the F1 thread you will find plenty of advice on the current cars being used.
