Shimming a rotor is illegal? If you buy from EA or EXPRESS it's already shimmed.

No, it is not illegal (AFAIK). He was just saying that his shims were not returned when his motor was reassembled.

Default New T4 Owner

Sorry for this typical newbie question! My T4 kit is arriving next week and it is my first entry into touring class. Can someone point me to a thread where I can start to grasp the popular electronics, motor, wheels, tires and body choices that are proven and a popular starting point. I'm in the US. Thanks! Go easy on me guys!

I would first check with your local track and talk to the locals. A lot of tracks run a spec tire and you would need to use thst. If no spec tire ask around and see what locals are running. As far as electronics, there are several that are good. I personally run Orion speedos and trinity motors. Orca makes a great ESC and battery as well as motors. Again I would check with your local hobby shop and support what they sell. Lots of times you can get good deals through them. There are only a couple bodies that people at our track run. The LtC-R and Mazda 6. I like the LTC-R myself. I would try both and see what you like best.

I'd suggest getting both bodies and see which one you like best.
Ltcr has more steering and is good on tracks that are tight with quick direction changes (chicanes)
Mazda 6 has a little less steering but is a little easier to drive IMO almost neutral and tends to show exactly how your car is driving as far as setup and not giving you that extra steering.
They also make a Subaru type C (hot bodies) and I'm told its almost a perfect mix of both and I'm trying to get one but supposedly it's on back order till July, but most people I know that used it love it.
I like the Mazda 6 but have faster lap times with the LTCR
