Seriously though, if On Road is so dead, why are all these companies dumping money into investing in a new TC ?

What do we have ..

Not to mention the bigger companies that are refreshing cars... If there is nobody racing, then they don't sell cars, and why build a new one.

All the chassis you list come from the Far East. I suspect on-road is very popular in those markets.

On-road is going to make a comeback in the UK, I'm sure of it. Race officials have finally realised that boosted ESCs were turning racers away in their droves, blinky is growing in popularity and club numbers are up again. The boosted nationals have been struggling for turnout and I'm sure they will go back to mod and drop 10.5 boosted next year.

It helps that the renewed popularity of off-road has driven costs up, while on-road costs are going down.

Some of those companies in the Far East basically make the parts for all the onroad cars we see. So it's no big deal to mix and match some stuff up and make their own branded car.

On road isn't dead. It just smells funny.
On road really just needs a decent entry level car with support to revive. Rcgt and vta hold hope, but the rtr manufacturers need to support it with a 17.5 car. You'd think HPI, making an rtr sprint branded for either class would be a no brainer. 17.5 motor and unpainted body and you'd be dialed for gt.

Why are they making all these new cars, because on road is alive and well in the countries that matter to those companies building the cars. If most of their sales are in Japan and Asia, they don't care how well on road is in the USA.

BTW taking the same assumptions that what is happening in my country and assuming the world is the same, then short course never took off and 2wd off road needs to be mid motored to be successful.

There is also that on road is still developing, the design changes between models do translate into small performance increases, and touring car drivers do seem to fall for it and keep buying the latest models to keep up even though most won't notice the small differences. How many off roaders are still running a B4 that's a few years old with no incentive to buy the latest chassis.

We had 45 at our track last Saturday for on-road. We run everything from TC 17.5 to a Slash Spec class. On-road in Ohio is alive and well.

The OP was kind of sarcastic. I do not feel it is dead, but am constantly told as such. The point here, is that it is not dead, otherwise these new kits would not be popping up...

RC is a cycle...
a few years of Off road being the hotness.
a few years of On-road being the hotness.
On-road is not anywhere near being dead..
it's coming with a tidal wave.
kits are starting to come down in price. as well as other components..

Tires are no longer 50 dollars....most can be purchased for under $30 and premounts to boot.

some of us are diehards...some of are new guys.. some of us go with the cycles.

I for one am glad stuff is starting to look good again.

Northeast USA - On-road is starting to bloom again.
Let's keep it rolling.

I've been hearing that "onroad is dead drama" for years and it always seems to come from those who don't have a clue on how "trending" and "market cycles" affect EVERYTHING in life. I'm with you Potter if it were dead then companies would not continue to invest in onroad at all!
