I took the suggestions about the steering rack fix and installing the Tamiya ballcups. All I can say is WOW!!! What a difference. No more play in the steering rack and turns very smooth and the ball cups fit nice and tight. Thanks for the help guys. Next I'm thinking of installing some titanium links.

definitely get some titanium links. absolutely nothing wrong with the 3 racing ones either.
prob gonna order a new set for my r2 and a floating servo rack this week. there are a bunch of parts id love to go ahead and add right out of the box but then the kit becomes $400 lol..

Why "definitely get" titanium links? They don't aid in performance. Weight difference has to be negligible. I'm just curious why you think they're that important?

Some people just like to "upgrade". Anything "stock" is not good enough for some even though these are aluminum. I have not bent any alum turnbuckles yet between racing 4 different cars. They hold up well. Titanium turnbuckles will almost guarantee you a bent alum ball stud if the links don't pop off. You likely wont see anything in a bad crash till you put it on a setup station though.

They are much stronger than aluminum. Less likely to bend/snap and take.less damage from turnbuckle wrenches.
For.me, changing turnbuckles is a huge pita. Ballstuds easy.

I just finished installing the 3racing titanium turnbuckles. I found one of the stock spec-r turnbuckles bent when installing the Tamiya ballcups. They are 3mm so working on them is simple. I installed them all and put the car up on the wedgie board and everything is lined up perfect. .5 mm on toe out in the front steering. 2mm front camber. 2.5 mm rear camber. 3mm toe in at the rear. Its too bad that spec-r doesn't include this in the kit or as an upgrade. Plus the 3racing turnbuckles weren't expensive as others. A very inexpensive upgrade.

Default What not to Do

This is what you should never do with a Spec R R1 Pro.

I hit a small road marker at full speed and this was the outcome.
Not happy

Do any of the Aussie drivers of these cars have a spare chassis ( doesnt need to be new) that I could buy???

You could probably order one of those new aluminun chassis and see how that works out.

What Spur gears do you guys use ? Myself & my son have gone through 4 spur gears this year. I want something tougher than the Spec R ones. They're also quite coarse which produces noise, therefore more resistance which means power loss. My car has noise whereas others are quiet and smoother.

On the subject of turnbuckles, I installed Lunsford titanium ones on our cars and they're great. I don't have to keep checking to see if they're bent.

Panaracer for me. i might pick up some of their pinions as well to replace my aging touring car gears. thought xenon ones are tempting due to the metric set screws.
I think kawada spur gears fit too. anything with 4 holes.

I've been using kimbrough spurs in my spec-r cars, and panaracer in my vbc. The kimbroughs seem to be softer material. I've never had a problem with the panaracer, but have damaged a kimbrough.
