I installed the DCJ's and replaced the snapped pin, it seems like the center milled section is the weak point as I found the other end of the pin inside the rear arm still and the center section had sheared off. At first I thought this is a "weakness" and I should change to some solid pins I have but then it hit me, if I can get away with breaking a ~$1 part Vs. a $3 arm or hub.. I'll take the pin, so It's now a Kudos to Spec-R for making them this way!

As a side note, the DJC's came preassembled, should I take them apart and rebuild them and replace the grease/oil they shipped with and heat shrink them?

Yeah they don't seem to come greased at all, maybe oiled, but you want some good grease on them.

Well got them greased, updated my ESC firmware for stock blinky and the ESC died on me, so I'm rewiring her now, she was a mess to begin with so no big deal there, gonna use a HW Justock ESC for now until SP gets me another Rev R out here.

I know around a 3.5-4.0 FDR is a good starting point but I'm having a hard time getting the right spur/pinion combo, I tried a 96/50 and 96/52 but it just felt like it had no oomph down the straight with either. I now have a 86/50 and it seemed a bit better but I was also not running true blinky as the ESC had some silly "Hybrid" boost thing turned on.

On a side note, I got a quick reply from Spec-R and I'm most pleased with the customer service!

HA!! That is awesome! Perfect for a beginner and it's fully upgradeable to the full spec-R if one chooses. It's an awesome option for VTA/stock and honestly I'd prefer this over a Sakura S zero any day! I may pick one of these up just for the price alone!

Spec-R has really impressed me with these TC kits they have been putting out and thier customer service tremendously, I'm really excited about TC again!

Wow. I'm going to have to pick one of those up. I love my r1 and the S1 would be a perfect vta car.

I wonder if the car will use the hinge pin inserts or the fixed hinge pins?

No inserts but can easily be upgraded to r1 blocks for fairly cheap

WOW, that looks pretty sweet and very economical for an entry level TC class. Wonder where they will be sold in the U.S.A.?
Maybe Reflex Racing?

I live in Houston, Texas. I race at Gulf coast Speedway, M&M Hobby center and Remote Controlled Hobbies (Temporary parking lot track.). I race M&M Every thursday I can make it and then Alternate gulf coast and RCH on the weekends. Gulf coast just started running Saturday Races and sometimes Saturday night races so the next Saturday race they have I'm going to go show off the Spec-R to all the guys there.

The folks who have driven it loved the car and I'm not shy about letting anyone drive it because I'm actually proud of how awesome this kit is and how awesome Spec-R's customer service has been. This car makes me want to race!

As I understood it, Christian at ReflexRacing.net is planning to carry the all the Spec-R products including the Spec-R S1 that he can and become a full service Touring Car Shop. I'll almost guarantee he'll have the S1 when it ships.

You just have to beat me to the preorder on it! :-)

Killer price on the S1. Works out around 75 before importing - not sure what else you could get that's as good spec (pardon the pun) for the money. Also that's all before you consider the upgrades that'll be available for it.

Looks a great VTA car, but also just a great entry level TC. Might have to grab one when they are released.
