does body style of the car really affect the handling? i didnt really think that the cars would be fast enough to get a major improvment.

Yes, body styles do make a difference. Especially in the handling of your car. I'm biased, but I would recommend "Protoform"

Here is what I just did, getting ready for my new Yokomo car.
I bought 1 of each body
Rayspeed Accord
Protoform Alfa 2
Protoform Mazda 6
& Ride MKII Stratus
Each body acts differently at sertain tracks like the MKII stratus works better at SoCal (indoor high bit asphalt) than my Accord or Alfa, the Mazda is another great choice @ SoCal...I just like the Stratus better. The Accord handles great @ HotRod Hobbies (outdoor med bit asphalt)...Bla bla bla I try every body at every track and then I see which is best than use that body at that location. The only real reason I got all four is there is a series starting in April that goes to 6 different tracks so you need the best handling bodies for each track...So that is how that goes.
I say if you are looking for the best all around, the Mazda 6 is it.

Stephen, have you tried the Nemisis, Stratus V3.0 and 3.0 carpet from Protoform yet? If you get a chance try them bodies out.

Matter of factly I have just tried the Nemisis and it is OK but not for SoCal, I was everywhere. Now for outdoor it handled well but not as good as the Mazda or the Accord. The Status 3.0 I haven't mainly because the Ride MK series is fantastic. Plus they are cheaper than Protoform. Just My $0.02

i dont know if it has been done, but there should be a magazine article where they test different bodies on the same car, im sure that would answer a lot of questions.

Parma Alpha, run the wing about a 1/4 inch forward than stock to help the car rotate on tighter tracks.

i thought you wanted more downforce for tight tracks so you can have more grip at a slower rate?

By moving the spoiler forward, you still have the same downforce but you move the center of pressure forward. As far as total downforce, I don't think any foam tire car would need more downforce than an alfa unless it was some strange carpet.

We see this question a lot with newer racers. They don't think the speed would be high enough to really effect the handling. What you have to remember is these cars are light and fast. If a body can generate 1 pound of downforce, it will add 30% more force on the tires. That's a lot. And where the force is placed will greatly effect the handling.
