Default xti inline setup or transverse

would like to get a general consensus on the inline or transverse setup i have mine setup inline but i am seeing seasoned local guys in my area are setup transverse and when asked why the say that they don't like the way the inline handles. looking for some opinions form the seasoned crc drivers or team crc thanks

when I first got my XTI, I built it inline. With the battery down the middle it steered super hard (a good thing) for 5 or 6 minutes. But towards the end of each run (always in 13.5 blinky) the car would always start hooking the corners abruptly which had the effect of killing the car's momentum. I was unable to find an inline setup that didn't stall in the corners at the end of the runs, so I fitted the transverse setup. With the weight of the battery farther back in the car, that does seem to forefit some of the early-run super agressive steering. But it does help the car towards the end of the runs. For me, the transverse battery arrangement has been more consistent and therefore slightly better than the inline arrangement.

Does anybody have a shore chart or something similar of the CRC tires? Or just a listing from soft to hard?

there is a foam tire rating writeup near the top not too mention a plethora of other useful information all relating to 1/12. the gentleman who put this thread together deserves some serious props.

Are you saying your car is less aggressive with the battery further rearwards???

Less weight over the front wheels. Moved the balance further back I suppose.

A 45/55 ratio is what I have found to be ideal in 13.5

It takes weight off the front tires which means they dont get as much heat in them so they do not "gum up" so much during a race so the car is not as aggressive late in the run as he was saying. transverse setup is more consistent throughout the run, however, Andrew Knapps setup works very well throughout the run. Personally I am using his inline setup with 10* front reactive caster instead of the 5* that he uses and it is a very smooth setup and is well worth a try.

It works ok, but with the speed being .19 it is kind of slow.

sag is when the middle of the fully loaded and race ready car is slightly lower than the back of the pod. Sag can be created (or increased) by loosening the collar that puts tension on the center spring.....allowing the middle of the car to "sag" down closer to the track. By contrast, droop is the the amount that the middle of the chassis can be raised up beyond ride height before the rear tires lift off the ground. Droop can be created (or increased) by lengthening the shock itself. Myself, I always adjust my shock spring so that the bottom of the race ready chassis plate is level (no sag). And I adjust the fully extended length of the shock so that the middle of my car will raise up slightly (1/2 to 1mm) beyond level before the rear tires lift off. That range always seems to work for me.

I thought I remembered reading something about new silver springs on the Xti,but I can't find it now? Anyone remember? Ran mine for several packs today and it seems the kit,silver 50's I think, springs collapsed, something I haven't had happen before with the dark springs. Anyone else notice something similar?
