Snowbirds handout motor questions

I recently aquired one of the Snowbird stock handout motors, silver type can with a purple end , and it is new and unrun. No brushes or springs.
I picked up some 767's and the Trinity red & green springs for it. How will the combo work for the motor
What type of motor is it, torque based , torque/RPM based or RPM based. What type of track or conditions should I be using this on. Tight and technical , or a more RPM based track.
Thanks

It's very much like a monster stock or a epic roar stock...... Can;t exactly remember which it's based off of. It'll work just about anywhere. If you running outdoors that spring setup shoul dbe fine, but reds or purples would probably work better on a tight carpet track. 767's or 4499's work great.

basically do to it as you would for a regular monster, just the motor has more overall power because its epoxy balanced, or so i have been told

yup we use both the ultra bird 19 turn and the purple stock motor here in florida. the stock is alot like a monster and usualy likes the same gearing. some say it has more power than a monster some say they don't. they run very well on the track though.

I always ran a red/red on this motor with the f-brushes. it worked very well.

What are you all doing with the 19t.....spring/brush combo?

Korey Harbke 03-10-2005 09:45 PM

well, you always want to keep the pos spring the same or stiffer than the negative. Stevo's setup sounds good. Usually I run red springs and some other high silver brush.

JIMC...
That sounds like the same motor we used at the US Indoorchamps... I ran 1/12 stock and used the "E" brush (full face) with Blue springs and rolled it out around 1.65. I used the motor again at our club track which was smaller and tighter and ran the same brush and spring combo but went to a 1.50 roll out.
