that sucks that they cost so much. But what doesnt in this hobby. I was hoping to just be able to just get out on the track and practice and then start racing but i am gonna have to wait till i buy the transponder before i can start racing i guess. Just another set back in my life lol

Are you sure your track doesn't have handout transponders? Make sure before you buy a personal.

If you're OK with using the oldstyle AMB 20 transponders, you can look at this one AMB20 Personal transponder

I just picked up a brand new one from the For Sale part of this site for $85.00 shipped Plus EBay has them on occasion. Look around and find one. They are worth every penny when you think about it.
1) They never break unless you do something wrong.
2) If they were ever to break you can get them repaired pretty easily.
3) They are very small and light.
4) Your entry fees go down....it will pay for it self after a few months of racing. Here is an example
SoCal charges $12 to race each class and $15 if you don;t have your own transponder so if you were to race two classes that is $6.00 you save per race day. After 15 race days you have paid for one. If you only race one class then 30 race days.
It is an investment.
I have never seen anyone who has broke one of these unless they didn't secure it properly or put it in the worng spot and a crashing car hits it. I put mine on top of my servo and no problems.

thanks for the help guys. There are two major tracks by my house one is rsj raceways and ajs raceway. I am almost positive that rjs uses them and i think i heard ajs does too. So once again thanks for the info and i guess i will have to save up a little money lol.

rsj and aj's both use personal transponders. i would try and buy one from rsj...he usually has some in stock and it buying from the local track helps keep it in business.
it's also nice to have one at rsj so if you come on a practice night or before racing starts you can see your laptimes. usually the RC Scoring Pro 'practice mode' is on and you can hear you laptimes as you run or see them on the tv screen in the pit area.
