If you put the big 4s pack in the DM-1 it would look very clunky. Also, the driveline of the DM-1 is from the nitro version so the electric is just a conversion. However, the Cobra is purpose built for electric.

Just like anything else you get what you pay for. Build quality of the cobra is A1.
Besides a few minor things the cobra was a pleasure to build. Parts were all high quality and everything was precise(sometime too precise)

The price difference is big but if your racing GT8 and your worries about $$ then it may not be the class for you because tires to me is the biggest expense. I personally get more uptight about the cost of always having good tires then the cost of the car and electronics. When u really look at it The $300 difference between the cars is only like 5 sets of good tires

Price is not the question, the question is how is the cobra going to perform
compared to the DM and other GT8 cars. If it dominates the DM then I will gladly pay the price for it again. If its equal to the DM then Ill still be happy with the car. If the DM out performs it then I will not be happy lol
Another big concern is parts wear. My DM is only 4 months old and all my dogbones and cups are all needed to be replaced. We will see how quick the cobra parts wear.

Parts quality like this is what your paying for

I had my first good runs over the weekend. I ran 5 2s combos (All Maxamps 6500mah). Overall really liked it. I need to work on my toe/camber/ride height etc... Im still trying to learn the art of the setup. Once I get it dialed in right I think it will really hook up great. I was running 22/46 on the Tekin 1900kv and had a bad of heat problem. I hit 240 degrees on my last run, in fact it got so hot the solder on the ground wire melted and the connection came loose. I was running on a small track and not even really that hard. Unfortunately I did not temp the motor on any of the prior runs. Did not think it would be an issue. Tekin still working amazingly enough. Anyone have an idea as to why the Tekin would get soo hot? This is the same motor I ran in my SC8.2e which I bashed the hell out of and never had a heat problem.

Looks great. Did you end up using the T8 2650kv? Is it running cool? How much do the fans cut down on temp? What is the part # of the Yeah fans you are using on the Cobra?

i would start off with gearing the wrong gearing will always cause heat issues, i would start there

Suggestions? I ran 20/46 in the buggy, same motor no issues. Would the thicker diff fluids be a factor?

Got to run it at the track today.
Ran tekin 2650 geared 46/22. Ran nice and smooth.
Fans help a lot they are the 2-cell YR fans, I believe 0180
Really need windshield cut outs and fans when running any onroad regardless of motor and ESC combo because they all get hot unless your geared really slow
240 degrees is nuts. Highest I seen was 140's after 5000mah packs.. ran with the fans and no cut outs. If your windshield doesn't have cut out that would be the first thing I do

No cutouts on body. It is a Deltaplastik Porsche GT1 EVO and it does wrap the chassis pretty tight and low.

http://www.deltaplastik.it/index.php...i&l=ita&id=905

The last 2 pack combos were 6500mah back to back runs with maybe 5 min inbetween and the wire melted 75% through the second combo. I will try some cutouts and order some fans. Hopefully the motor is not trashed otherwise I may give the LRP 2250 combo a try. Have any experience with that setup?

Yea you need cut outs atleast man especially in this car with the electronics placed so close together. On road generates a lot more heat then off road since your on throttle a lot more and a lot longer. Need to move air across the electronics. Make sure to get a fan for the RX8 too. Those Yeah racing fans move more air then any other fan that size, it's pretty incredible how good they work.only problem with them is where the wires run to the fan is kind of weak so they don't like having the wire pulled on at all. When u get them add some shoe goo,CA or some hot glue to the hole where the wire come off fan. It will keep them from moving around.

No experience with LRP, honestly never even knew they made 1/8 scale electronics.

Definitely not gearing, you are geared for ~45mph, Voltron geared for ~60mph.
Your heat issue is somewhere else. A T8 esc should shut down(thermal) way before that temp of 240F. Mine thermals around 180 degreesF. Something is not right there.
Hope you're not using any software timing. These 1/8th heavy cars do not like much if any timing. That's one reason why Tekin T8's runs in dual mode(sensored to sensoreless)No Booost or Turbo to heat thing up.
Make sure the car coasts easily. Take off pinion/motor and give it a coast test. It should roll easily. All gear meshes should be smooth. Voltran's car is super smooth and quite. He goes 58mph on the straight.
I would guess with the T8 esc not thermalling is your problem source.
And yeh those YEH Racing 30x30 2S fans are money.

I'm getting somewhat interested in this car especially if Voltran gets any faster, lol. It's a little hard to get fired up now because our outdoor season just ended. I'd really like to see pivot ball suspensions front and rear which adds adjustability. Hopefully V2.
Desoto was untouchable at our big GLC race this year with his nitro version.
