Ok since I'm seeing numbers all over the place even on serpents site I'm looking for real world figures on diff tuning. My seasons almost over so when I build this kit I don't want to tear it apart to swap fluids a zillion times. I'm running on a parking lot track med to high grip with tight infield. What I have on hand are 300k, 200k, 100k, 50k, 20k, 40k, 10k and 5k. I was thinking of running 200,300,50 to start. I believe I have v2 diffs the gears are grayish colored I don't know any other way to tell. I see the nitro setups on serpents site are running 500k in the front. That sounds extreme to me but what do you guys think.

On the Nitro GT, we run 300k or 500k in the front diff and around 50k in the rear. I would think that you will want 300k or 500k in the center.

Your diffs should be the original versions. AFAIK only the new 811 buggys come out the box with V2 diffs. I'm pretty sure desoto means 500k for V2 and 300k for V1 diffs.
Stock setup is a good start and go from there.

Billy Easton is probably who u want to talk to regarding buggy but the Man U want to talk to for the cobra gt is Desoto JR. Seen him this past weekend run at the GLC and he killed it.
On the same track but not prepped my fast laps are low 22's while he has no problem consistently putting down mid-high 21's lap after lap.
Would love to know his setup for that weekend but didnt want to bother the guy lol

I'd go with the 300k in the center the book calls for and go from there
It's a good place to start and then u can try different weights as u go along.

I've been wanting to try out locking the center diff completely just haven't gotten around to it.

I'm pretty sure they are 5 degrees. As I recall swapping both takes out 7 degrees.

The c-hubs? There no way the stock ones are 5 degrees.
You may be thinking steering blocks

Im running 200k front, center locked, and 50k in rear. Im also parking lot racing on a medium grip track similar to what you described. I duplicated Paolo's most recent nitro GT setup and the car hooks and handles like crazy. Very happy with it at the moment. I tried lots of different weights on the center but never liked it. Locking it made a huge difference. Not sure if anyone else has experimented with it but it works for me.

To fit the heatsink I had to dremel off a couple fins off the heatsink because the bottom corner of the RX Box/compartment would press against the heatsink

I also have a 25mmx25mm YR fan mounted on the front corner of the mud guards that points at the back of the motor for some extra airflow.

What batteries are u using? I had heat issues running 7200 80c lipos.
I switch to 7000 50c gen ace lipos and it helped out.

What temps are u hitting? If you were running fine and all of a sudden your temps are getting much hotter then it could be a sign that your motor might be on its way out. What gearing are u running with the 1900?
So I had this same issue last year and talked about it early on in this thread. Im using the Gens Ace 5000 50c ROAR packs and 6500 120c Maxamps. I do not notice any real temp difference between any of the packs I run other than its way to freaking hot. Im running 46/26 which is likely to high to begin with on the Tekin 1900 T8 and no timing advance on the RX8. After a 10 minute or so run and im running it hard and fast im temping over 200 - 228 degrees lol. Amazingly the motor is taking it and does not even seem to run the slightest bit slower. I figure it will be dead in few more weekends of abuse and I will just pick up another one or something different.I had this same rig in an RC8.2e prior and never had the temp issues. Ive been thinking about trying the LRP Dynamic 8 2200kv next but seems like nobody knows anything about this motor? I do think im creating my own problems with too high gearing, not enough body ventilation, no fans, and running it like a stolen car in hot weather. I do have to say this car is pretty much indestructible, have not broke a single thing even after some pretty spectacular crashes. Even a damn near head-on with an FG 1/5 semi truck at pretty high speed.

I did order the Yeah kit like you have and it should be here in a few days. Im also going to vent my body better, and drop down to 20/46. Guessing I will see much lower temps.

What did you use to lock it?
