Hey guys I'm getting into electric GT racing and I have always used LRP speed controllers with great results. I see that most are using the Tekin line but how about this combo for the e-Cobra:

Will this be competitive? Our track has two long straights one is about 175 feet long and the other is about 225 feet. The laps in my Cobra GT Nitro are in the 24 seconds. I just want to be on pace with the nitros. Any help would be very welcome.

Only problem I have, I don't know what speeds the nitro's reach.
I drove the Ix8/2200KV with stock spur in the car, and 20 Pinion and reached a top speed of 75 kmh (measured with mylaps speedtrap).
Gearing heavier is still possible, but maybe going for the 2600KV LRP motor is also something to think about.

I've tested that combo in the e-Cobra, and it works great!

With the Tekin 2650 combo with the stock spur and 20T pinion I reach 58mph on the 230ft straight at our track. That's with giving the car enough room to stop
Top speed with room would be in the 70mph range on 4s

What temps are you getting on the motor and what is the ambient temperature where you race? My local track has an ambient temp of 85F average. With the track temps around 120 to 135F. I don't want to roast the motor.

With those same temps with only cut outs on the body motor temps would reach 170-180 degrees in a 7 minute main..When I added high flow fans temps dropped to 150

All depends on how you drive. One guy at our track had a set of sweeps last him all season while I destroyed a set in one battery pack driving like a A-hole.
Same goes for run time. If your not mashing it in and out of every turn your run time will almost double.

Not here. If there are not enough electrics then the guy can try to but since most we race 45 to 1 hour A main and 30 minute B main most won't even try. In the big races that I've been there have bein an electric class but none have even tried. Since the electric GT are now comming to the track then in our next big race maybe ther will be at least a main. Nitro we have more than 60 racers with most race turn outs around 30 guys.
