A 4.5t with a 730g foam tired land missile is a lot to handle, even for the best in the world
You might consider motoring down a bit, so you can enjoy the sweet corner speed, rather than piling up a parts bill

I weighed my 12R5.2 this weekend at a race and it seemed to be much heavier than everyone else at 805g. It is a stock build with the following:
Novak 17.5
TrakPower LiPo 1S 3.7V 6400mAh
Airtronics Mini Digital Fast BB Servo
Protoform AMR-12 Light Weight
Jaco 1/12 Prism Front and Rear Wheels

AMB PT on a Venom 4" Servo/Battery Extension.
I am running the stock 12 AWG Motor and Battery Wires. I have a set of 16 AWG TQ wires, but I don't see those reducing my weight by much. Any ideas on reducing weight?

The wires will make a big difference actually, id guess at least around 20g if you do motor and power wires. Beyond that, youll want the aluminum screw set, and ceramic bearings. Keep all your wires as short as functionally possible, including your servo leads. Id guess if you shorten your servo leads to as short as possible youd pick up another 5-10g.

I was actually mistaken, it is 756g w/o the body and 805g with the body. Please see the attachments.

A single color paint scheme would help with weight, as would truing down the tires. 16 AWG wire is all that's needed to conduct current properly, so you'd see a significant improvement in weight by wiring the car using 16 gauge. Aluminum/Titanium screws would also cut a few more grams. Each part doesn't make a huge difference, but it all adds up.

All the above posts are great suggestions. One other is the motor itself. I switched from a Reedy to an Orca and found myself under weight by 2 or 3 grams

This may be a silly question.
Is there any way that I can convert from damper tubes on the R5.2 back to the older side shock that the R5.1 used. Im think that i will need a new top plate (the one from the lipo conversion) and shock

If you are looking to cut weight try the http://www.rctech.net/forum/team-com...-products.html 12R5.2 2mm chassis and bottom plate. This chassis cuts 12 grams off of the total weight of the car and also provides a smoother feel.

I was running my car on a track yesterday that had a long straight followed immediately by a 180 degree turn. I ran the car wide open for 3/4 of the straight and coasted for the last 1/4. When I went to make the turn off the throttle at the end of the straight the car had a very strong tendency to snap into a very quick 180 and come to a complete stop facing the opposite direction. The car seemed to handle properly for the rest of the track. I did not notice any other cars exhibiting this behavior. Is this a setup issue or was I driving it improperly?
