Tamiya TA04 R Probs??
Guys i have a friend that upgraded to a TA04R. He originally had a TA04S. I also have a TA04S. We both are using the Core stock motor by Team Orion. However since his upgraded and lighter than my TA04S his not going faster than my TA04S.. Were basically around the same speed.
Also on turns his sliding alot (n its not his tyres).
Do you guys have any recommendations what he can do to maximise his TA04R or point out why isnt it any faster than before (on his Ta04S) cause its lighter and also what setups u can give him to make his handling when he turns better.. This could be suspension. oil damper specs or whatever..u can think off..
gabes thanks guys./

it sounds funny,...but i think u will get better response if u posted this in the ta04 forum...
i have a 04r and so do my friend, both of our car r pretty much the same but there r tuning parts on my 04r.i jus give a run through...
carbon fiber damper stay F/R
alum pulley.
light weight ball diff resin joint(F)
white spring(F) and blue spring(R)...
40T damper oil...
but on the straight,my car is faster than my friend's(on type T and same pinion)...he's dumb-struck and i'm jus hapi...his car turns better, and mine doesn't.i know this is due to the spring setup etc...but on the sttaight, the difference in speed n pick-up is jus well,...amazing...
anyway, try playing with the spring,...i dunno wat setting ur friend likes, but if u wan the car 2 b more responsive, mayb u should use a set of softer spring,...the yellow(stock) spring should work well,...

thanks ijnek softer springs at the back u mean??? do u know why his car is not really beating mine on the stratight?? we have the same motor?

well,...
sometime u cannot jus compare the car settings,...mayb he did not do a good job on breaking in his engine...
i mean softer spring F/R...wat i like abt RC is the testing part...trial n error is always the best method...
different on the straight?...tat's hard 2 ans...really,...i also have the same situation with my friend's 04r n mine...

ijnek ...... my best guest is that his motor or his batts is out of commision
might have a not so good pack or overheat it b4
same goes with motors..... wrong brushes or did not break in or maybe overheated b4
BREAK IN MAKES 60% diffs on motors ....... i know 1st hand LOL
and overheating KILLS motor instantly no amount of com cuting etc etc will help also 1st hand experiance ...
and brushes = must get good ones branded ones like gm or orion ...
tamiya stock and other NORMAL brushes overheat , wear out and kills com prematurely
srings lose their tension when hot and the motor gets hotter when the spring is lose ........... so maybe u can check it out
i am sure u can find difference if u check it with ur friends o4r
also check for bindings and belt tension .......

ijnek ....... brushless might be a good idea but u cant enter races with it ..... and WHAT IF the centre magnet wears out ? get a new one ?
and with a brushless u better be good with ur car ..... expenses might suddenly skyrocket ......
batts die faster then normal ......
tires wear out faster then normal ......
bearings wear out faster
diffs war out faster belts war out faster
not to mention the amount of crashes u MIGHT have ......
lol ..... i think i rather stick with brushed LOL

hm ............. batts last longer ??? i tot brushless draw lots of curent and therefore heats up the batts and then kills it faster ???
not too sure about this but it sounds logical to me
