Running more 'scale' HPI bodies on 17.5 touring cars?

I'm not a huge fan of the unrealistic protoform bodies - does anyone here run one of the more realistic HPI 190mm bodies? I am getting a TC6.1 and would prefer to run one of these unless it has a significant effect on performance.

Thanks!

I should add, the M3 GT and Lotus Elise bodies have peaked my interest as far as HPI goes.

Thanks!

The USGT rules may appeal to you. Scroll down here http://usvintagetransam.com/rules/index.html

They look really cool compared to the typical touring car and you have a LOT more options on bodies!

+1...I hate the bodies...I used to run RCGT bodies in TC 17.5 for a long time...before "racers" started complaining, that somehow I had an advantage(it had nothing to do with my driving )...and that the bodies are illegal for ROAR races...so I got with the program and run the blob of paint...but I always paint it up with USGT/RCGT in mind

and of course, USGT is perfect for you if you have it at your track...

here are 3 of the bodies I ran in 17.5 TC

In the LRP-HPI-Challenge here in Germany some guys use the Elise-body with success. Scale bodies always cost some tenth per lap, but the Elise performs very well. Of course you have to change your setup a little.

Are the bodies illegal for ROAR races? And advantage, BAH! If anytyhing it is a disadvantage to run a realistic shell against the engineering genius of Dale Epp! Who would think that the streetable shells are faster? This must be guys that think the purple strapping tape is faster than the black, or that you are using Pixie juice or Unicorn blood to sauce your tires.

Wait, purple tape isn't faster?!

It's .000000001 slower.

I will run HPI's Subaru body at the IIC, and i think it looks appreciably scale... besides, if it turns out to be a tad slower than some other body i'll just add a purple anodized heat sink to my servo

I used to run the M3 GT outdoors when scale first started to take off, worked great, can't say I noticed much difference going to a stratos at the time but that was some time ago, the GT is still a cracking looking body ;)
