I would vote for 2014. I've always heard that this version is faster than the 2015 on low grip asphalt...

Has anyone done any testing with the wider suspension blocks on low-med grip asphalt?

Are they working well? and in what way?

What blocks are recommended to use in the front (maintaining a straight pin - i.e. no sweep) to test the theory?

Anyone using them on the rear (as that was something that was posted a few weeks back)

i re meshed tonight by feel and eyeing the mesh clearance. No more stiff spots when moving the spur back and forward.... Will give it another street test before race night. Odd because when I used sound method as described I think it was nearly flush which has caused some wear...

Low CG of the 2016 make it better in any traction level. and the smaller pulleys will mean faster acceleration. As for the bumpy track, It's probably a wash since the shorter shocks are larger diameter for the same volume, and regardless of the model your still running the same ride height so bottoming out point is the same, build the shock with soft springs and thicker fluid

You forgot the 13 car, it's basically gone backwards from then, the 13 car was much loved here in the UK by the Club guys, never had one unfortunately. I have had a 14 and 15 and must say I had much better results with the 14, here in the UK it is a rare sight to see a Yokomo BD7 2016 on track, maybe on a pit table or hiding away in a box, it's actually become a bit of a joke so I really hope they sort the car out for the 17. Tamiya have finally stopped copying them with the 419X so you know it must be bad lol

I own all the BD7 cars and the 13' and 14' were great on asphalt. I wasn't a big fan of the 15'. The 16' feels amazing! Its aggressive like the 14' and I feel like I can drive it harder through the corners.

I tried a wide car on low grip, it was a more stable but just didn't rotate through the corners enough and was slower.
I like the long shocks on the 16 car on our very bumpy track, but the mod guys don't and think I am just crazy...

i would guess you'd get all the rotation you want with less rear toe..

I am only talking about outdoor running, I don't race indoors. Don't be a moron like I say guys have tried it here in the UK and most have either changed manufactures or running the 14, 15 car, the multiple times open stock champion who I sponsor runs a 15 car and wouldn't even consider getting a 16 car. After 2 years of running the Yokomo I have reluctantly gone to an Xray, lets just say it just works in all conditions, great on used tyres for club racing as well. I have a lot of love for Yokomo but to see the 13 which was much loved by club drivers here to now almost become a bit of joke is sad to see, I hope they find there way back

To be fair: neither the ETS titles nor the worlds were won with a 2016 car.

Also comparing drivers like Ronald Völker to us mere mortals isn't terribly realistic. Never the less, he just won the Reedy Race on asphalt with a '16.
