The exchange rate has nothing to do with it. It's the dollar that getting stronger anyway not the yen getting weaker.

I have heard some rumors about a new car coming out for at least a couple months. Getting stock of full kits outside of Japan has been difficult lately.

At any rate, if i was on the fence, I wouldn't be worried about buying one now because Yokomo has a good track record of releasing complete and reasonably priced upgrade kits for existing cars.

How often do Yok usually release a new TC?
It's been off the radar over here until this year so I wouldn't know.

This is actually slow if you will for Yokomo to release something. I know they have released the new top deck, and the new shock caps, etc. I'm sure something is coming soon.

Compared to the kit standard 2.0mm thick upper deck, this thinner version will help improve overall grip on low grip surfaces. However this upper deck can also be used to optimize chassis stiffness where speeds are regulated as in stock class racing, and even in high grip conditions.

A couple of us tried a thinner topdeck on a well known low grip track here and honestly it made things worse not better!
Total surprise to us, but we both took it back off. Not saying it won't work at other low grip tracks, just didn't at this one.

Interesting results

A bit more from Umino about it
When using a motor or 17.5T 13.5T by carpet road surface,
Cornering speed increases, it leads to the average time up

Hi Dave
I did the same thing as well..I kinda agreed with cyclonetog .. if you are aggressisve driver may not work for them as the smoother driver..I norticed the car rotated too much compare the stock top deck...So far I'm running the Race Berry bottom chassis with the stock top deck ,is works great on low med grip condition...

I think running thinner stuff ,is required to run stiffer shock spring might help...

The exchange rate has everything to do with it. I am an importer in this industry and Japan is the only country that sells at YEN price in YEN, not dollars.

And yes, the Yen is getting weaker:
