This may be a silly question but here goes.. are the stock pistons different between the long T-Shox and the short T4 T-Shox?

Just want to let you guys know that we've received our first batch of Low Profile shocktowers for the Tamiya 417 and Xray T4.

Our shocktowers are designed to enable the use of LP shocks but retain full length springs. During testing it was very clear the full length springs are superior to the short springs and thus we designed our shocktowers to enable the use of both type of springs.

Tamiya TRF417:

Xray T4

The DS Motorsport carbon fibre shocktowers for the Xray T4 raise the shockmounting point by a small amount which enables the user to run normal lenght springs with the LP dampers. This option will give the racer the best of both worlds, the low CoG of the LP dampers and shocktowers combined with the superior performance of the full lenght (HPI) springs.
The mounting height for the rear bodyposts has remained the same compared to the standard shocktowers.

The shocktowers are currently in stock and sold through the following site:

Hahaha , with all respect , who want to raise the shocks now all other lower theirs. I think that both Jurai and Martin Hudy have tried this , and didn't go that way because the lower shocks are the best way. Also with the Tamiya team on their 417. Waist of money.

What Daan is trying to say is they raised the towers 'slightly' for the T4 to enable the low profile shocks to be fitted with full length springs. My understanding is that these towers are still lower than T3 and older towers. I think its a great idea. You get the advantage of lower towers and shorter/lighter shocks but no need to replace your collection of springs with the shorter versions.

Nice job Daan.

Regards,

Simon

1.1mm x 3 are the stock pistons. Even with 300cst oil the damping is very heavy with the stock pistons. Drill out the pistons with a 1.3mm or #55 bit...

Doesn't the length come from having a long end cap on the stock shock? If thats the case you could try the stock end cap on the Tshox shaft.

Low shock towers for the TCXX? Would you also have shocks for it?
