I have to ask what the motor temps are when you feel the battery is falling flat? I have no issues at all with shorties.

The motor (GM) is coming off at about 60-65c.

I have a serpent s400 with a shorty lipo setup

By running a protek 4100 shorty lipo my car is 64 grams lighter
When I run a venom 3800 my car is 80 grams lighter.

What really helped the performance of my car though was moving the esc to the other side. With this layout my car is perfectly balanced left to right. To achieve this balance with the bigger packs I would have to add 25 grams of weight to the battery side. This means my car is actually 100g lighter

My total weight with body and tires is 1267. - A huge advantage in stock.

Oh and there is no decrease in performance. The battery my have a lower capacity but its also pushing a car that is 100g lighter. Any decrease in performance I attribute to the fact that my motor is coming off at 150 - 160.
Oh and this is coming from racing blinky stock on carpet and asphault.
