Does anyone know if you can upgrade a Cyclone black to the Cyclone TC? Are all the parts close to the same?

An XRAY racer at the track runs a SMC 5000 pack. He shaved off material from the case to make it fit the 008. I tried his pack in my Cyclone and it fit. I have also taken about 1mm off the bulkhead to allow for more room. So yes, the 5000 will fit with some mods to the pack and car.

revo61 - Yes you can upgrade to a TC. You will also want to use some of the parts from the WCE to build the ultimate Cyclone.

My current setup:

Gold/Silver springs
30wt AE oil all around
-1.5 Camber around
0 Degree front bloock
3 Degree rear block
2mm shim under camber links (inner hole)
mid shock mount positions
one-way up front
smooth real ball diff
4.5mm ride height
6mm droop around
If you don't remove the molding bead on the tyre when new, this will have a negative impact on the cars handling.
Use a tyre sander and abrasive material to remove the bead.

Try HPI pink front springs, this will make the car feel a little more direct and give better bite into the turn.

If you run the 0 front block, you'll need to add a 1mm width spacer to the axle, as reducing the arm sweep on the block reduces the track width, a narrower track width at the front can make the car feel twitchy.

Also your additive routine and bodyshell may contribute to your difficulties...

That is good to know. But the pack become ileagal in a ROAR event. I plan on racing at the Paved Nat's in June. But I will probably be running NIHM's since they are faster in stock.

I would like to try the SMC 5000 myself. But it does not fit into any of the cars I would run.

The Reedy 5000 looks like a good pack. Rick Howart ran them in mod at the Nats and did well with them.

If you ground the rear bulkhead a little would the SMC 5000 pack fit?

I have the Core batteries in my car and they fit just fine as long as you grind a little off the RR bulkhead and grind the screw a little as well.

He's still running a 13.5 since current 17.5's don't have a detachable harness. The only reason he bought a cyclone was because of the anodized purple. Looking pretty doesn't help you on the track Sammy.

That's too funny. I get the same for some of my paint jobs because I put the "PRINCE" symbol on my ride.

I rock different paint schemes from time to time and my boy that painted that one doesn't paint that much anymore. I may go back to my pink paint scheme for the Reedy race though. I haven't used it in a while.
