Getting tempted eh? Were you running on the rug or asphalt? Strange about the shuddering... If itís not a mis-match of parts, the only other suggestions I would think it could be are worn spool or too much reach on the steering. The car has standard type CVD's and are not double jointed like the Losi, hence too much steering endpoint will have an adverse effect on the cars handling. On my first Clone with too much steering throw, I could lock the front wheel in mid corner due to the CVD binding upÖ make the car horrible to drive.

I have now approx 18 degrees steering throw (end point) on a setup station. This seems no where near enough steering, but trust me itís more then ample, and does reduce tyre wear significantly. You should see little to no vibration/binding of the CVD at full steering lock at this point either.

Hope this helps
Good to see you're still racing...

Regards,
Peter

Thanks Peter! I know he had his dual rate turned way down and maybe he needed to set his end point lower and then raise the dual rate back up. Thanks for the tips. BTW--We were running on outdoor asphalt. His car had an Orion 5.5 brushless in it and it was STUPID Fast!! LOL I liked it a lot!!!

Ok I'm getting frustrated. I am trying to run a 9X2 motor on my cyclone and cant get it to work without temps going through the roof. I switched out the 100t spur for a 78t 48p. i can get a pinion to work (i'm trying a 22t) but the motor starts getting rediculously hot after about a minute. im running an lrp bullet reverse control which is supposed to be no limit. any ides what i'm doing wrong? i've had this car about 3 weeks now and havent been able to get a motor to work in it :-(

I've got a small problem maybe someone here can help. I installed a novak 13.5 brushless system in my cyclone and i'm trying to get a FDR of about 4.5 to 5. in 48 pitch for asphalt racing.(recomended on this forum) What spur/pinion combo should I use that will fit in this car? Right now I have a 77 and 78t spur gear. I thought about trying a 72t spur Thanks for any help/ideas you have.

Anyone know what the fdr for those LRP x-11 vector's with a sintered rotor would be?

Or a place to start gearing it?

I just use the gear chart they come with... seems pretty accurate to me...

It comes with a gear chart?

You got a LRP x-11 13.5? You like it?

Also depends on what turn X11, and the track size

Locally the guys seem to be running a rollout of around 35mm with the novak and about a few teeth higher ofr the LRP, so start around 37mm

Shoot

I dont know how to do the roll outs yet lol... I just learned the whole FDR

for the 37mm roll out in the cyclone with the 100 tooth spur what would be the pinion to run?

my monster stock is geared 100/37 which is a FDR of 6.59 if that helps you know how the track is.. I dont think so, but you never know

I think I said that right lol

I have been working the same thing right now. However, I plan to run 5 Cell 13.5. We think I'm gonna need a FDR of 4.3:1. I have a few plans on how to achieve this. Currently I am at (88/45)2.375=4.77 This barely fits, the motor is all the way back, and just a marginal gear mess. This ratio would be good for 6 cells, but with 5 I need a taller gear. So if I can acquire a 50t pinion, (88/50)2.4375=4.3 I can get to where I think I need to be. Also, I have looked at changing the upper pulleys to a 17t. That would change the tranny ratio to 2.29. This get closer to running more normal of gears.

No getting around it, the Cyclone is going to be difficult to gear with a 13.5. I predict that the next generation of Sedans will have a tranny ratio between 1.75-2.0

Snowy.

I was looking at Andy Moores motor setup and he ran a 7x1 with a 108t spur and a 31t pinion. So try a 28 or 29 t pinion with your 100t spur and adjust from their according to how fast the car goes and motor temp.

thanks carlos. i could prolly figure this stuff out if i could just understand the fdr. is there a magic range you want to be in? i see people running from anywhere between 4 and 6 fdr, and i just cant understand why the variance.
it seems there is very little room to play between a safe thermal range and cooking it depending on gearing. how do you know what fdr you should be running?
