That was the whole problem, everyone looked at it and though that it was gonna work with TC3 set-ups. This same issue is killing the TC4. Everybody just wanted to pull the shocks and angles off their TC3's and just go out and be fast. Nobody paid any attention to the fact that it's a DIFFERENT CAR. Why would AE go through the trouble of releasing a new car EXACTLY LIKE THEIR OLD CAR?

The PRO 4 is a fine platform, Carpet or Asphalt. If HPI had a TEAM of drivers, rather than just 4 or 5 guys outside of Asia, I think the results would look quite different. Hara and Surikarn weren't at Cleveland this year. If they were, the results would probably have looked a bit different. I mean seriously, how many drivers do AE, LOSI, XRAY etc. have worldwide? Development is easier when you have a greater pool of racers to glean knowledge from.

huh, huh...... I said glean.............

I compared some photos of 415 and HB prototype. I think we can have a hybrid car. Something like 415 with HB transmission. Why? I do think HB prototype might be too flexable on carpet, and I got some serious parts supply issue on HPI/HB parts.

Direct rear drive? The spur doesn't seem big enough for direct rear drive (unless you got a super torque motor).

I think this design might be better if you try to do direct rear drive:

"faked" TRF415 prototype, posted at Nov, 2003. No it's not really a prototype of 415 but something else. For detail about the story check Tamiya TRF415

The direct drivetrain is very well tested by Corally with the Assasin, that chassis can switch from 4 drivetrains.
The direct drivetrain only works when you're driving in A 19T spec. class.
That drivetrain isn't suided for modified motors, it just doesn't work with that gear ratio.

I agree with you that this car could be A bit too flexibel, but lets not forget it's still A prototype.
Since Hot Bodies and HPI are A sort of the same, I don't think they will make the same mistake as they did before,
one word and one number.... Pro 3!
