I wouldn't say years. The Pro2 came out in '99 or '00, and the Pro3 came out in 02, right? Nontheless, HPI only has a several year gap between kit releases. The Pro4 has been out for about a year and a half. I think based on past release gaps, we should be able to expect another kit within the next year or so. But either way, 470 for a Cyclone is outrageous. But that price just has to be wrong. I don't see how any company can survive selling their kits at that price...

I hope your right about the price because that just blows.
Like I mentioned before, If this thing goes 1 penny above $400, forget it.
I'm not spending $400 plus on a kit and then find out I can't get parts for 2 months. And even then, only online. It helps that they will use Pro 4 parts, but has that even been confirmed yet?
Anyways, I can see this thing going for $350-370, but even that is $100 more than the Pro4 when it first came out!

Suspension parts, I believe that has been confirmed. I don't see how that can be an accurate price considering almost every TC has been released under 350. I would recommend calling Tower, and seeing if the price is accurate.

EDIT: And I think the biggest deterrent is the fact that it appears to come with no extra pivot blocks, no sway bars, and no other tuning aids/options. I think if it came with those things people would be much more willing to pair the price (if it is accurate...).

But what was the last kit that started out this high? The Pro4 wasn't this expensive even if you shipped a first batch car from Hong Kong.
-Josh
Answer, None. The only cars I know that are that high are the Corally RDX ($440) and the Alex Racing Stinger Pre-Order ($440)
Even the Tamiyas (special editions aside) are only $350-375!
Seriously, I say we boycott this car until it comes down to $350.
on the preorder the price is 460 which i think is suggested retail price when it will be realeased the price will go down to like 360 -375 usually it happens this way i dont think it will be 460 even on the speedtech website it say price and spec is subject to change

there is the Alex Cuda Web edition "the Orange car" that was sold for around $460-500+ and I had one...
and don't forget Hirosaka built Pro4 that goes over 1k.
I don't think you'll see a boycott...racers are going to buy this kit no matter what the cost.. especially when you have 2 of the top drivers in the world racing it.... maybe that is why the car cost so much.... to pay drivers like Hara and Surikarn to be on the same team.
if it stays with the $450.00 range it's reasonable... I'll still have 2 of them coming....

yes and if you think about the 415ms is expensive as hell. i think, i havent checked in a lone time, but the 415ms is $480 and now they have the msx converson kit on top of the MS wich is another $200 so if you think about the 415 accually is the most expensive car and its been out for a while. but hey that is what tamiya is known for. putting out kits and conversons all the time. if you ask me tamiya makes the highest priced cars. and they still break all the time. half of the people that i know that ran it our local TCS race broke there car at least once. and the turn buckles are aluminum stock, so basically there is another what $40 i think for the TI ones. cuz the aluminum ones bend way way to easy

I don’t mean any offence but comments like this that is why the price will be so high.
People that work for hot bodies will look around at forums like this to see what people are saying and check there response to new products. When people start saying things like
“I’m definitely getting one”
“I’ll sell my ………. As soon as that comes out”
“I’ve got to have one of them” etc……..
They ramp up the price a little more
As for the selling it on the results thing I’m not too imprested with it. The 3 drivers running it at the moment Hara, Surikarn and Andy Moore are 3 of the best in the world at the moment, and I would expect them to be winning races anyway. If they had an average driver who all of a sudden started wining with this car I would be impressed.
All I can think is if its going to cost this much in the USA what’s it going to cost over here in England

£375 now, but originally they were saying £400, still a lot compared to all the others, Pro 4's were £300 when they came out and the FK'05 is only £265! But then again, if you compare it to the Losi JRX-S which is £330, it's not all that much more, and for me in the long run it'll end up costing me less for the Cyclone as I already have Pro 4 spares and the right drivers etc.
