Whats the optimal spur and pinion combo you guys are running most often? Running stock w/foams on carpet.

Hey Joe,

Yes, I will be practicing with my Cyclone with some friends tomorrow for a few hours. I want to just cut some laps there as its a track I haven't yet been to with the Cyclone. Should be fun.

Hey guys, had to throw a major THANK-YOU out to everyone who's contributed on this thread. I ran my new BMI-equipped black-kit Cyclone last night for the first time at Maximus in Maine.

The thing was just plain GLUED to the carpet. I pretty much ran Tim Stamper's carpet setup, and it was just on. It looks like they forgot to mention that you get the "Better Driver" kit with the BMI chassis kit! 'Cause I'm normally a pinball bouncing off the boards, and last night I barely even hit a corner flapper!

This thing was just effortless to drive. I was coming from a Pro4, and it was night and day the difference in how hard I had to work to keep the car on the track.

So thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread. Many of the suggestions and reccomendations here made this build go much smoother, and the setup information made available made my very first lap one of the most enjoyable RC experiences of my life.

Awesome car, awesome community!

But don't everyone go out and buy one - I like having obscure cars!!

rc-zombies, did you ever get that battery strap installed? Just curious about how it went and how well it works because I'm really interested in getting one.

Is it an asphalt kit? BMI will have one soon I hope (if not already out).

Why has this thread been so nice and calm lately? Cyclone rocks.

So, just as a curiosity thing.....

How many Cyclones will there be at the 2006 US Indoor Champs?

I know there should be many, mine will be here in a few days

We only have size "L" left in the black shirts. I do not believe we will be re-ordering the black shirts.

Thanks,

Ahh, someone else thats running brushless. How do you keep your diffs from slipping. My rear diff is slipping a lil and I want to know how to conquer that. I threadlocked the locknut and the car ran good for a couple of minutes and started to slip. Also, how tight should the belt be? And lastly, what is that whirring noise? Other than that, the Cyclone is a vehicle on rails.

Why are there different purple alum front pivot ball mounts (1,1.5,2,2.5) on the cyclone and pro4? How do they affect car handling?

I've only ever run the standard Cyclone diff.

The lowest turn motor was a Novak 5.5..

I usually run the 4.5 and havn't ever had the diff slip.

As long as you're consistent in building them up, they're fine. Ditto with the Pro4. Some ppl always complained of diff slipping but mine never did.

Tips:
Go nuts with the grease on the small thrust assembly. Go for it.

Be sparing with the grease on the main balls. Use only enough to plug each hole in the diff gear and pop the clean balls in. DO NOT USE TOO MUCH GREASE HERE!!!

before you assemble - clean the diff rings and balls with strong degreaser..

That's it..
