Default Cyclone Setup

Does anyone have setup info for a Cyclone at Speedworld Raceway in Roseville? This is where they just held the 2006 ROAR Nats.

It is a rubber tire/asphalt track.

Thanks

I've used Hara's Base Rubber / asphalt set-up and it worked pretty good.

I have a cyclone s and stripped out the plastic pulley. Someone over in the cycone s forum said I would need these to make it stronger.

1 x HB70743 (Direct Layshaft)
1 x HB70711 (Spur Gear Hub)
2 x HB70725 (16T Direct Pulley)

When I look in at the regular cyclone owners manual it shows a different shaft and only one 70725 pulley. I bought the stuff up above and want to make sure I can use it.

there are 2 layshafts available..
1 for direct drive and another for use with a center one-way pulley.

The 70743 shaft is the one I got. So the two pulleys mentioned are the correct ones?

Also, what is the difference in the one way pulley and the other?

yes that is the correct one if you're not using the one-way pulley.

the one-way pulley is another tuning option. allows the front wheels to free spin.. so no front braking at all. Mainly used for large open tracks.

Do you ever use a one-way on the center shaft without a one-way on the front or must they be used together? I've been using a XXX-S so I'm still trying to learn the two belt system vs one, so any further insight is greatly appreciated.

i have never found it to be good running the spool with the layshaft oneway.the layshaft oneway pretty much defeats the purpose of the spool.

it defeats the purpose of the spool (ie brakes when you let off) but it IS different than a front one-way. if you ran spool / 1way pulley under acceleration it would act like a spool or front 1way (ie front tires locked together). but when you let off with spool/1way pulley the front tires are still locked together and have no braking. when you let off with front 1way the front tires become fully independant.

Im looking for thoughts and opinions on the jet aluminum spindles.

Also, Im looking for a non-rc source for aluminum shims, .5 and 1mm thickness.

I have been using the jet spindles they are good dont bother with the alloy c\hubs as the alloy spindles tend to increase the strength of the composite c\hubs.
Also c\hubs in alloy tend to bend but are very hard to straighten so they are never the same after a big shunt.

Thanks for the advice Jason will try and let you know how it goes, I was looking at Marcos J setup might give it a try as it is very similar to my setup just lower pivot blocks and softer spring rates\oil.
