Default poor cyclone availability

I tried to buy a new cyclone recently but everyone was out of stock.
Apex and Demon in the UK told me not to bother, and go for a xray
or schumacher instead.

As a side note, at the same time I got a PRO 4 on ebay for
my pal and was very lucky getting a part I needed for it !....it took me
ages to find a stockist.

Basically I can appreciate the comment made earlier on this thread
by someone else. It makes me wonder too whether a new cyclone is coming
out soon.

The rare time you see a cyclone on ebay there is always lots of bidders.
If you looking to sell, now is the time

Surely someone on this thread knows whats going on with the HB TC?

Does Mr Hot Bodies (HPI) read this thread?

One hobby shop in Australia indicated that if it had stock, it could sell the HB TC at virtually any price !!

Cheers

I'm glad that should work for you. Tape is the way to go, because lipos will slide out of straps on a flat chassis. I use battery strapping tape. It's fiber reinforced but a little stronger than the generic fiber tape. Besides the standard lengthwise loop over the battery and under the chassis, I put a strip along the right bottom edge of the pack. I align the lipo with the right edge of the chassis (helps in balance too). That keeps in in there even with heavy impact.

hey, i got a cyclone moorespeed and for the life of me i cant keep my battery still, it either likes to slide out from under the velcro strap and grind against the pinion or come out of the car completely.

i use those stupid packs that dont have the the little feet on the bottom, so it just slides around, anyone got a way to stop the damn thing from moving about?

Yea... I see what your saying... Most all cars have the same problem
I use two servo mounts standing up in the holes that are already down the center of the chassis. One in front of the pinion and one behind the steering post, that will keep it straight, then use good tape doubled up.

The velcro strap might work a little better then it does if you stick a strip of velcro to the top of the battery, I've not tried that myself.
I hope that helps you

Looks three posts up... tape is the answer unless you find a way to key the pack into the chassis. Some guys also use thin double sided tape on the bottom of the pack (carpet tape, not servo tape) to keep it from sliding around.

Can anyone of you post couple pics of your cars using tape to secure batts ?, even when i tested a lot during the weekend the 3racing velcro strap, its kinda bulky and i think more weight than tape ...

thanks,

Pat

Which of the latest 40C packs from either SMC or Thunderpower fit the Cyclone without dremeling the bulkheads?

SMC 3200 40C is the only one that fits without mods (20.5mm high)

None of the 5000's fit without some work. With the Thunderpower 5000mAh I still had to take some material off (it's the thinnest 40C at 23.5mm, which is why I went for it). The SMC 5200 40C and the Reedy 5000 35C are 24.5mm.
The SMC 4700 40C (with inboard connectors) is 25mm.

Having said that, I don't know if you need 40C packs, unless you're racing mod. In 13.5 or 17.5, there isn't very much difference between the 24C, 28C or the 40C. Jeff Cuffs TQ'd and won 17.5 Rubber at the Snowbirds this year with the SMC 24C 5200's, even though he could have ran 28C or 40C packs.

Thanks Pete. Anyone have a pic of the mod required? I don't want to turn my sedan into a hack job.

Does anyone know if the TC Bottom deck (Chassis) will fit the WCE without any mods needed?
